Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Losing it over long hours

Working from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day with barely any breaks. Is this just me, or are your workdays just as crazy? How do people survive this?

@2qlk, assume you work in HR or something. "You're not in it alone...your manager can help!" Not sure if you're one of the brainwashed masses, dillusional or just had great luck with managers. But every manager I've had at this company is utterly useless and would use it against you asking for help like that.

work tasks literally as fast as you can; don't over-analyze anything and don't over-do anything. Once I adopted this mindset, I am getting everything done in 8 hours - but let me tell you there is so much work here at this company that I have no time to waste on anything.

If you're working excessive hours in Allstate you're doing it wrong. The work life balance is their USP, so take advantage as the money is not worth it.

Record every hour you do in timesheet. Your manager should help you manage your time aswell so you're not in it alone.

"Work is stifling, nitpicking, and micromanaging" means that the work environment is overly controlling, where superiors focus excessively on minor details and constantly monitor every aspect of an employee's work, making them feel restricted and unable to take initiative, leading to a frustrating and demotivating experience.
Key points about this phrase:
Stifling:
Implies a lack of freedom and autonomy in the work, feeling like creativity and independent decision-making are suppressed.
Nitpicking:
Describes the tendency to criticize very small, insignificant details, often overlooking the overall quality of work.
Micromanaging:
Refers to a management style where a supervisor closely oversees every step of a task, often checking in frequently and providing excessive feedback on minor aspects.

This is the silent culture now. Been this way since we all got pushed home. Used to be just 10 hour days before covid. The exexcs love work from home as they get more out of everyone. They don’t care how long you work per day,. just as long as your numbers are good. Some cheat to get good numbers but a lot work the Allstate 12 daily. This is why all the good ones are quitting, retiring or finding better jobs. The execs don’t care about that either. They love that too as everyone can be replaced by Bots and cheap offshore labor. It’s the bottom line that counts. Do what you can to reduce what you give them. Your sanity is at stake
