Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Career growth?

It seems to me that none of the work-related contributions mean anything. You can work your a-s off, have great results, put in all your energy and be fully engaged, and it doesn’t matter in the end. Office politics and getting into influential inner circles is all that matters. And somehow, those who manage to squeeze in are, as a rule, mediocre, or worse, performers.

I did everything possible in 2024 and received worst review yesterday for the time being in Chase (many years). The ED does not even engage with me and he wrote my review along with my mgr. I am loosing hope in Chase. So disappointed. You can work your a… off and they do not give a cr-p. They are selling false info. To employees on Zoom calls. Only if you are in their a… “maybe” they grade you good.

Welcome to the land of incompetent DEI hires as your leads and management. They’re worthless, can’t lead their way out of a bag, and did I mention worthless?

My teammate offloaded most their work to me. When I refused, the manager got involved and shoved it down my throat anyways. That individual "lead daily standups" but then after the meetings would burden me to update all their jira (their job). Most of the time that individual was volunteering at every event (DEI, women in tech or women on the move, all local events). All their day to day stuff was offloaded to me and I stayed up late nights finishing their work. That person got promoted to VP. Looking back I now know the manager was involved in this.

It is all about who you know. Performance does not matter much

This is happening everywhere.
There is a huge trend to obtain profits by cheapening the labor force.
Obviously this has a bottom like employing eskimos in alaska.
