I was one of the people let go in an earlier round of redundancies. I have been looking for jobs for MONTHS and can barely even get an interview.
Am I the only one in this situation or are there others out there? I am actually at the end of my tether and and am considering a career out of IT in desperation :(
I was let go last October, but having planned to retire at the end of this year, I just did it a year earlier. Thanks, I guess. Good luck to anyone looking for work in NI, it's not an easy time in the IT world.
I was dying on my ar-e for about 10 months then got 3 offers at the same time. Stick at it you'll get there. If you have to take something to tide you over just keep applying something will come good.
There are quite a few free courses and discounted certifications available. Talk to recruiters about what’s hot in the market, think about what you’d like to spend your time on, streamline and update your cv, get out there and network.

I hear of a good few who have been in same situation. It's tough (and will get tougher in January as many decide on career change then) but stick with it. Sign up with recruiters, do some upskilling to improve CV. Good luck
Similar issue with myself not many IT roles available that I could find outside of Belfast. Ended up taking a non IT admin role which has zero progression opportunities. Seen quite a few as well in the same boat that decided to go outside of IT as the northwest doesn't seem to have many IT roles unfortunately
Get yourself signed up to an agency, most businesses advertise vacancies through agencies now, anything I've seen is through an agency so if you can get on their books I think you'll have a better chance. I've noticed most if not all of the roles within Allstate, don't match similarly named roles outside of Allstate, so I would definitely broaden my horizon.
A lot of people are experiencing the same world wide. Only you can decide if re-skilling is an option.
