Thread regarding SS&C Technologies layoffs

Laid off yesterday

I've been with the firm for 27 years and was laid off yesterday. Such a slap in the face to only receive 2 wks severance pay. I wish all others who were laid off the best.

This company is disgusting! Just turned down a job offer there mid December after doing a bit of reading online, this forum really helped, thanks!

Did you leave & come back?
You may have gotten that wrong. I get it - it was hard for me to remember everything when I got the news. That sounds like your "notice". DST has their severance in the merger agreement. It was available on Confluence but you can probably get a copy if you contact HR. SS&C does something different but there is no way they gave a 27 year tenure employee only 2 weeks. I think you have the notice period confused with a severance agreement. Severance is a mulitpage agreement - be sure to check your paperwork & pay attention for the expiration date on the agreement.

This place is doing well and snapping up everyone who has left SS&C (https://www.zilo.co.uk/careers/job-opportunities)

Best consult a lawyer as 2 weeks for 27 years seems off/illegal. Read up on state/county/provincial employment laws.

Might be worth it to chat with an attorney. If the company had a pattern of paying severance for tenure and then just changed it... of course could take years...

Wouldn't be illegal but if there was a union and this happened, today would be a very exciting day at SS&C

I have been let go too after 15 years in the role...imagine spending so much time and effort (out of hours, volunteering time to cover HITs, going the extra mile) all for what..? to be let go in a blink of an eye which is really terrible, especially just before christmas...

So sorry to hear, you're not alone, so many were let go Fri, Mon, and yesterday. I know there's no right time to do it but just before the holiday season as well, just disgusting! Tbh I don't expect anything less from this company and the fat greedy c*** that runs it. I assume when you say 2 wk severance pay that that is 2wks for every year. Again, I wouldn't have expected anything more,
