Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

To customers.

If you continue to buy, or stay with, Avaya products then good luck. My experience is that the product suite is subpar and given all the layoffs what is left of support and development is almost non-existent.

Sure, the AM vision. Feed the masses enough BS to keep them somewhat happy all the while ignoring direct questions regarding people's futures. I'm sure those pushing the positive side of AM were those applauding his every word on the all hands calls.

I have to disagree with most of the AM comments. AM had a vision to get Avaya moving in the right direction, and have Focus. He totally executed. Avaya would have been completely hosed 2 years ago if AM had not grabbed the horns.

For AM’s first 12 months or so, everyone was afraid to deviate from his direction. After 12 months, I saw the complacency return at many levels. Additional, with AXP, there was the “it must be built here” attitude with product leadership, and no work to make AXP an open platform, leveraging old and new product and development partnerships. So, the North Star did not capture the needed market share, and AM met his commitment period of 2 years, and here we are. A few tweaks, and things would be different!

I see people mentioning ML got the boot. Where did you see/hear that?

Whilst I still consider AM a, as they say in the UK, wa-ker, in fairness he did what he was hired to do. Keep the workers somewhat happy by feeding them lies or half truths whilst getting rid of everything not nailed down ahead of the eventual sale. It is unfortunate that so many people believed his cr-p, never questioning or pushing back. After the first few months, it became patently obvious what was happening yet nobody reacted. It was all PR. I guess that there's some satisfaction that some of his mouthpieces like ML got the boot. I can only hope it was as much of a surprise to them as it was for all the loyal employees that got 2 hours notice. One last dig at ML, don't go by ML it smacks of wanting to be like the working class.

Number of employees 8,063 (2021)

So when Alan told everyone "we need to rip the band-aid off quickly", just another one of his lies. Imagine the impact 5,500+ business relationships between these terminated employees and Avaya's customers have had. Now tell me this company's going to survive.

I noticed in a recent court filing that Avaya is now 2500 employees with the plan to be at under 2000 by end of 1H 2025.

I'd not be surprised to hear that we've already gone down that road with a few big customers.

I know of several large Multi National Customers who are threatening Avaya with 'unfit for purpose' litigation given the large gap between Expectation (the sales pitch) and Reality (struggling to make the deployed solution work)... The ACES team (previously APS!) and Product House hands appear to be tied. It's a shocking state of affairs.
