Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

SBS cuts?

Something weird is going on w/ SBS’s. I’ll preface this by saying I don’t believe they will get rid of that role but I think they want to downsize & are trying to weed ppl out/make ppl quit. In July they completely their revenue goal & how categories would pay out. Then they told everyone that if they were in the red and two categories, they would be put on a PIP, even if their total revenue was hit. With that theory someone who’s 400% of goal would be put on a pip and that person could still win legends lol make it make sense. They’ve also gotten crazy over their expenses and mileage. 9 years ago the SBS team was less than 1/2 the size it is now, I think they want to go back to that. Start by making people‘s lives absolutely miserable micromanaging changing how they’re paying an incentive works putting them on performance plans for no reason try to get people to quit and then severance the others that are left over.

"USB was not expecting so many of you to hit your bonuses."

This isn't only for SBS. It seems like that across the bank. Weird planning ...

A manager at USB that fights for their SBS’s? Oh please. They are all about self preservation and could care less if SBS’s get laid off.

SBS’s, every single one of them, would be looking for greener pastures. USB was not expecting so many of you to hit your bonuses.

I believe the primary issue lies in how goals are structured. While it’s possible to achieve 100% cumulatively across all metrics, the focus should be on the KPIs, as these are the true measures of success for SBSs. Consistency across all areas is critical—it’s not enough to drive revenue in one area and assume everything is fine. Additionally, the bank’s creation of a multi-level SBS role, coupled with compensation that exceeds their value, presents a challenge. Many SBSs are not generating enough revenue to offset the cost of their employment.

In my og post I wasn’t trying to infer anything about Sable (negative or positive). I am not an SBS but I work with them directly. After being here over a decade the writing is just on the wall that changes are about to hit that team. They’ve never been told 1/2 through the yr that they only get credit for 25% of money market production… everyone crushed it so they switched up. Then told 1 month before reviews if they weren’t green in every single category they would be put on a PIP & given a “needs improvement” on their annual… even if they were over on their total goal. One SBS is in the running for legends but was told he was going to get needs improvement bc of his lending category. Good sales ppl aren’t staying in jobs where they can’t be promoted or earn incentive & that’s exactly what a PIP does. These decisions are way above Sable & from what I’ve seen she fights like a mama for her SBS’s. The layoffs & realignments have been steady since 2019, they just seem to be next on chopping block. It was only a matter of time , they are one of the few that hasn’t had any cuts or severances.

Not her and don’t know her but I know what an inferiority complex sounds like. Seems like someone was unable to fail up or is being held accountable.Welcome.

Sable isn't the problem, Heather Kesner is. That woman is literally the most confusing leader I have ever met. Has the personality of a damp rag and a lack of professionalism to go with it.

Yeah, I’m sure she is the root of the SBS problems. Can’t be the model or the strategy or the resources or the variability of performance inherent with SBS staff. It’s definitely the female middle management leader in the smallest region. What is she thinking? I mean a B2B sales leader actively using LinkedIn- the best networking platform for B2B??? Work your PIP and you’ll be okay. You don’t have to lash out at her.

Once you are on PIP, how long does it take for them to have reason to fire you?

I got a feeling I will be on PIP next month after performance review

The entire SBS management system is a joke. Have them report to local District Managers instead of the inept “leaders” that are more concerned about likes on their LinkedIn posts. I’m taking about YOU Sable.
