RIFs in coming weeks

I’ve been hearing about it a lot lately. Just the rumors or there’s more to it?

Who is left to RIF?

I have had two different trusted sources now tell me a RIF has been confirmed behind closed doors. Take this with a grain of salt though, I am not a primary source for this kind of information. I've heard some rumors that the RIF will be a %10 cut company wide, but there's no telling if this is baseless speculation. Managers that I trust have said there is no mention of a RIF as of this time.

Just an FYI, there is a federal program called WARNS that requires employers over 50 people to give at least 60 days notice/compensation prior to a layoff. As of now, there is no entry on the database from Gulfstream past the COVID RIFs. People should read up on this, you are entitled to at least 60 days pay. It would appear, Gulfstream has abused this in the past and the lack of knowledge from employees stopped any repercussions. Know your rights.

I am compelled to believe that the most likely outcome if a RIF is to actually happen will be cutting contractors. They are the part of the workforce that is designed to be flexed. It would not be wise for Mark Burns to just do a mass layoff right before retiring, for both image and the sake of the company. We still have an a-s load of aircraft to sell, and we need to have a strong employee base to do it. The only real reason why we would be cutting people is to save cash flow, which is why contractors or probably not getting their contracts removed. They would waste a sh*t ton of money on rehiring costs for laying off direct.

I suspect the test of whether or not a real RIF comes next year will be if the G700s can complete retrofitting before the end of first quarter.

100% true. 10% per department. Our leadership had a 2 hour meeting today probably making the list.
