Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Slashing retirement benefits

Sneakily hidden in the email for annual health care signup was a little bo-b. Benefits promised to annuitants are being removed....health care dramatically stripped back and dental care removed.

Doesn't matter what they "promise". If they change their mind (it gets expensive), you will lose it.

You are losing your benefit after being deceived for years.

This will definitely get what they wanted...a wave of retirements before the deadline.

We should band together and strike. Forming a union or joining with the existing imperial union would be even better.

The who total compensation propaganda is a total BS, the company only uses it when it supports their agenda... No bonus, no perks but hey looks at this total compensation report....while let's just keep chip away benefits. In 2026 no more coordinating benefits, WTF... Now if you have a spouse with benefits, you lose all the advantages. The new basic plan is a garbage.

Went to do re-enrollment today, they’ve cut back on a lot of benefits. Now we need Comprehensive to get any vision coverage? Maybe we should get annual bonuses if we’re going to be like every other company.

So let me get this straight.
Our benefits have been decreased to match industry standard. To be aligned with our competitors.
But we are being asked to perform above industry standard and better than our competitors?

If every Imperial employee would grow a pair of brass and stand up to them together, we could stop all this and make our lives better.

The company preaches "people" are the core focus/priority yet they continue to chip away at the things that are important to the people. All of this BS about market standards and competitive practices. This company used to focus on being the best and being proud of being the best. That's how we retained the best people. Those days are long gone.

Also the scale back in benefits while currently employed! Wonder if they will still keep to the same “total compensation” line?

Strategy aligned with EM mandate to maximize shareholders $ and squeeze people doing the real work.
Welcome to corporate America.
The future looks bleak.
