Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

This will reduce productivity

I've never been more productive than when working from home. Replying to emails outside of working hours, working on projects in the evenings or even over the weekend, working through my lunch... All of that stops once I'm forced back into the office. I'll do my hours and be done with it. They're not getting anything extra from me from now on. I was happy to go the extra mile because WFH was an incentive enough. No more.

I mean, you can complain all you want about work from home. You can make your stance and say i won't work from home ever again. Don't and see what happens a year from now when the dust settles. People won't remember the work you did after hours for two years. All they will see is a pedantic child with an attitude problem. Plenty of fresh people to take your job that would gladly work from home.

Anyone who develops a bad attitude because their precious WFH is taken away will be fired. No severance.

9/80 has been around long before covid or working from home was a thing. It's probably safe.

I'd say the 9/80 is more of a value then the work from home option. Still in disbelief on the announcement, but glad we still have 9/80. If/when they take that away...that would definitely hurt.

Honestly this is the only perk worth anything that’s left at this company. I don’t even think this will affect the poor performers, those folks have few options and will find ways to waste time in the office same as at home or call in sick. The high performers that are overworked now forced to sit in teams meetings at their desk watching a clock? They will be looking at their options.

Quiet quitting is on the table boys! And from what I've witnessed at COP over 12 years, you can quiet quit for decades and continue to get promoted into leadership positions.

I thought we were worried about the environment and doing all we could to create less emissions. Well, everyone driving into the office 5 days weeks proves they couldn’t care less about the environment!! All just lip service.

This is absolutely meant to incentivize people to quit so they lay off less people. Think about it. There will probably be low performers that quit.

Bring your own triple quilted TP boys and gals! Gonna need some additional insurance coverage for all those visits to the GI office! Preparation H isn’t going to save your system!

Same here. Not even going to be vindictive, they just stop getting the extra time I was saving from the commute and stress of going into the office.
