EMHC Hot Desk Math

Is it true that we spent $2 million to implement Hotdesking while saving only $100k per year on air conditioning abandoned buildings and totally destroying employee morale?

Wasn’t the whole premise that the buildings would be leased out? Who was the genius who came up with this idea and have they and everyone else involved in making this decision been fired yet?

Name one achievement that KM could put on her PDS.

There are two types of direct reports to KM. The first type tells KM what she wants to hear, and they continue to receive promotions and RSU's at the end of the year.

The second type tells KM what she "NEEDS TO HEAR" and they are reassigned to meaningless career development assignments and are forced to retire.

Reminds me of strip-mall owners who raise the rent on their tenants, then see the tenants leave, and can't replace those tenants with new ones for 3-5 years. D'oh!

Except that many managers have just made huddle rooms their offices. Always leading by example!

I love the socialist aspect of this. Taking the offices from all of the senior managers has been great!

Executives make these stupid employee suffering decisions and exempt themselves from the abusive policies.

Lead by example instead of spending millions of dollars upgrading your offices during exact time you are implementing Hotdesking.

You've gotta admit that for a capitalist organization, hot desking sure seems like a pretty socialist idea.

If this is the best idea KM has had then I really question what it takes to become a board member. What gives?

Simply KM trying to make her mark on EM and justify that $8 million signing bonus for a non oilfield experienced accountant from a distillery.

The WaEM culture doesn't allow anyone to succeed that isn't a "yes man." The clueless ones at the top don't have anyone to tell them that their ideas aren't brilliant. Such a waste.

The “why” is because KM declared Campus to be a waste of money and wanted to make a huge move when she was newly hired.

KM wanted to sell half of campus but Security vetoed that because no power to vet the second, third, or later buyers.

Ironic that our CFO pushed such a bad financial decision.

I really wished Hotdesking restack was to fit in a newly purchased major company, but it is just a stupid decision and not part of a strategy.

The math doesn't make sense. AC can't be turned all the way off - the buildings will mold up. The janitorial staff was minimal and probably paid peanuts. They are still going to have the window washing crew maintain the exterior. The commercial real estate market is overbuilt and in the toilet - no fun in leasing. So, why?.... my prediction is readiness for a big merger. Pioneer is not it - not many people will come on down to the swamp lands. Think BP, Shell, or Chevron.

It was KM's idea. KM doesn't have a clue of anything. She's totally incompetent. But her boss DW is also an incompetent id--t so she got away with it.

The real savings is the number of people that decided to leave EM because KM implemented Hotdesking of owned buildings in the same year EM made record profits.

Paying millions to empty owned buildings to save thousands while forcing employees to Hotdesk at same time spending many millions to upgrade the Executive Suite is pure employee abuse. Any Executive supporting the hotdesking while constructing their palace on campus is not a leader, just a freak.

If you need a listing agent, Kathy is available. She's got expert knowledge of local real estate trends...
Little did KM know, at EM, we think so highly of our assets that we're not willing to part with them. Just look at our Canada operations... None being sold because they're "worth" so much!

I heard it was KM the new hire CFO that campaigned to lease out the Campus after her first visit.

Security vetoed the lease out, and the price was too high for any company to accept.

KM trying to justify that $24 million they paid her that first year.

Your focus is too narrow. In addition to AC savings, think about all the people who have left where the open concept was at least a contributing factor, all the people not coming from Clinton, and increased productivity because managers can more easily ride your a-s. Probably still a consultant idea, but some HIPO took credit for it.

So much BUSINESS ACUMEN on display by all involved. So much winning! I can only assume we used overpriced consultants to come up with such a powerful strategy!
