Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Repeat of last Thanksgiving

Not 100% but seems like with all the reshuffling going on RIFs around Thanksgiving for pockets of teams is possible. Would be classy Lumen move to do it before holidays.

More layoffs are coming. The move to bring on a person from MSFT to the board is a sign of what's to come. Lumen needs to trim employees and hype deals to hold stock price up. After that Lumen folds into an acquisition.

"Kate is making Lumen just a fiber company. All that "tech" stuff is out the window now. This is all you need to know as an employee."

Hmmm, that's all Level3 was (45B indebted merger w/ CL). At this point, consider "transformation" as the keyword for the extended future. Here's the frustration: Level3 fiber is only good for the legacy services; it is not the same ultra-low latency fiber and build out for the AI of tomorrow we are currently partnering with. Another temporary boon that will be pennies on the dollar in the future and strapped with debt. If AI is so important to these partners and fiber footprint so valuable, why don't they just do the build out themselves and own the facilities and market??!?! It's cheaper to buy an indebted company for pennies on the dollar after collapse than it is to hire & deploy their own workforce. Buy it later for cheaper...those "partnering" companies are blue chip for a reason and this SLT will not be around when it's time to truly payup!

That's called "yes remorse". You also cannot beg for your old job back because that makes you a fool, do you want to be a fool? Just go find some other place because most other places pay much more and don't carry all the BS that Lumen does.

Sure, ok. It's 6.09 now, trending down, and -8.5% 30 day.
Care to expand your off-base market analysis.

Lumen is trapped. It's very good it re-found its core business of fiber and shedding off countless money wasting silos, but also giving shaft to thousands of employees. The problem for Lumen is that fiber alone is not a niche market and becomes diluted fast. What does Lumen do when MS, Meta, AWS, Alphabet, all get their few bundles of light from Lumen, then what fiber will Lumen be selling? Once the dilution in market comes to bear the only way to be competitive is to drop the price to dirt cheap levels.

To add to above I came from a competitor few months back. I regret my decision every day this place is insanity. What makes me nervous about these new offerings won on paper is in my short time here Lumen most often than not fails to deliver most customers are unhappy and refuse to even give feedback to intrested customers for deals. What makes you feel they won’t fail also on all this new stuff they are selling. We don’t even have talent for most of this stuff

Don’t believe all the cr-p SLT is spewing Lumen is in better position but internally there is no money for anything.

There is no money to expand teams on where we have flipping clients ready to pay. But the leadership has money to send knockout winners to all these expense paid NFL games. How the he-l is that helping Lumen grow

This leadership is so pathetic with these ideas like we are some kids. I also get reminders now to nudge feedback people to give feedback like wtf

Lumen's plan is to shrink in size.
The goal is to have less liability.

For you who think lumen has turned the corner and things are all rosy... you better be sure of that my friend and make sure you have plenty of cash on hand. I was laid off Nov 2023 & still haven't found my next job.

Is Lumen still shrinking in customer base as they continue to neglect VOIP, neglect having good support when enterprise customers call in, have SVPs who continue to play pretend with their NPS and CSAT numbers, tick off their legacy customers and focus on new and shiny things?

Yes? Then RIFs will still be ongoing.
