It's common knowledge that some states allow you to get unemployment while receiving severance. But, is it true that as soon as you get a job offer, those payments are done? I mean, does any offer, even if you haven’t started working yet and it's significantly below what you used to earn, end the unemployment benefits right away?

Pretty sure the state unemployment office doesn’t receive notifications of job offers
I received a lump sum severance and in MN I cannot claim unemployment until after the period of time that my severance covers.
I accepted a job offer at 60% my original job and unemployment ceased on the start date of my job, not the date I received an offer.
Usually unemployment ends once you are actively working. So if there’s a gap between receiving an offer and starting the new role, you still get unemployment. But it’s all very different depending on the state you’re in, so you’ll want to look up your state’s policies.
This question varies State by State and will depend on how your severance is paid. When severance is paid in one lump sum, you can file for unemployment immediately (usually). When it is rolled out 2x monthly until it has finished, typically you cannot apply for unemployment until you have collected your last payment.
I'll leave it to folks that have already received severance in their State to speak to if they received it as a lump sum or not.
Isn’t unemployment run at the state level? I don’t think this is a USB related question.
I’d look into your states laws but yes!
If you are getting money in another way thru other employment or your severance still covers x amount of months … you won’t get help from the government
