Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

OPG REORG & HOU MOVE

Will the OPG reorg mean that no jobs will be posted in San Ramon, since the HQ move has already been announced? So the OPG reorg likely accelerates the timing of the decision to move to Houston for SR based employees, right?

I suspect that the bloodletting will begin in earnest after the election and continue until the new year. The soft under belly of Chevron is media coverage. Don’t want any bad press before the election.

The U.S. election will determine the layoffs so it won’t be set until after the results are known.

If T wins with the Senate and House in lock step, it’s drill baby drill with little regard for compliance. No SOX, HES, regulatory worries. So more to layoff in finance, HES, and Law.

If K wins with House or Senate, then more outsourcing offshore and limited U.S. compliance layoffs. Slowly (cause Chevron is slow) reduce assets in U.S.

The layoff strategy for both scenarios is likely done. Just a waiting game.

When will they announce a reorg and timeline?

They will post them in Houston but obviously allow a decent timeline for relocating. There are not a lot of critical OPG jobs in SR anyhow - mostly HQ staff and admin stuff.

No san ram job. If you want a job you have to move unfortunately

My understanding is all new roles will be Houston only. Of course, there are zero jobs in the fall PDC in my area anyway, so it's a moot point ...
