In my separation packet I received on Friday, there is a form to fill out to opt in for redeployment opportunities. Has anyone ever had any luck with this? or is it a waste of time?

I worked with a deployment partner after I learned I was to be RIF'd in early September. unfortunately, I didn't learn about the program until I went to the RIF information session, whuch wasn't until about 3 weeks after I learned about the layoff (all the earlier sessiins were already full ; there must have been a lot of layoffs on September 6th.) and there were only two weeks left remaining before my last day at Elevance. at the informatiin sessiin there is a little info about the program; you have to send something to Hr to request a deployment partner. Supposedly someone is assigned immediately but I didn't hear anything so I sent a follow up email within two days asking to know who my redeployment oartner, and got a terse reply that did give me the name of the person. It turned out that I had already spoken with her as she had been the recruiter handling two internal jobs I was trying to apply for internally when the postings were taken down prematurely. Anyway, I ended up with less than two weeks to work with her, and we did have one meeting that was heloful. She had identified some internal positions that I qualified for, but I had already identified and applied for those positions. She was also able to provide some documented info - whuch I have referred to often - regarding which benefits you get to keep and what you lose if you are RIF'd but are then rehired. I think if I had been told about the program much earlier, I would have been able to get more help from her, but since I only had a week to work with her, she was only able to get me an interview with the hiring manager for the two jjobs I had initially contacted her about.
Oh, and FYI- if you are considering looking for another job at Elevance, and you want to keep your earned PTO and sick time/disability leave, then 30 calendar days from your official RIF date is the magic date. (You get most of your other benefits or standing back - like years of service - if you are rehired within two years.) Since the whole interview/hiring process generally takes more than 30 days, that means focusing on positions that are already posted as soon as you know about the RIF. And recruiters are required to include applications from anyone who has applied for a position if they are facing an impending RIF to the hiring manager; your application can't be rejected by the recruiter if yiu are about to be laid off.
I was RIFd in September and opted not to do redeployment. If they offer you a job and decline it you lose your benefits. It does not have to equal what you once made but be within a certain percentage of your previous salary. I knew of one person who was hired before their last day of work and it actually offered her a bump in pay (in 2023). It appears her experience was not typical of all the other hundreds and thousands that were let go. If I am not mistaken I think those recruiters were also outsourced recently to the Philippines. I was also leery about them also mandating I go into the office more days of the week. My advice is don’t do it and keep your benefits and nothing is stopping you from applying for those same jobs. Just remember you can and will be considered for a future RIF regardless.
I was part of a RIF over a year ago and worked with the redeployment team. I received a number of interviews, some for positions I felt were actually a reach, and did ultimately get redeployed into a role I'm very happy in
Is everyone offered this redeployment program? I was rif'd and I don't see anything about that.
I was RIFD twice and used redeployment. I applied for everything I was qualified to get. Sent a spreadsheet to my recruiter every few days of new apps I applied to and followed up with them. You have to be aggressive in the redeployment effort and make it your primary focus. I was blessed to be rehired both times, so yes it works but you have to be persistent and stay positive. Best wishes to you in your journey.
Redeployment program mandatory to participate? Or can it be declined and just accept SUB?
They actually helped several of my teammates when half of our area got riffed. But they didn’t help me. I had to help myself. Applied, interviewed and got a new position with no help from “redeployment partner”
She wouldn’t even meet with me. She kept rescheduling our meetings and one day she just outright said she wouldn’t be working with me anymore. That I got assigned to someone else.
Also I want to note that in many cases if they do redeployment and find you a position, you have to accept it. It doesn’t matter if you think it’s a good fit, comparable salary etc. If you don’t, you’re terminated with no severance. So be careful. You’re better off looking for yourself.
I’ve seen it work for one person this year - she got a pay boost too. I’ve also had to interview anyone who was RIFfed and qualified for the job (as long as it was before the separation date.) HR was very persistent about this.
When I was RIFfed, I worked with the redeployment team. Wasn’t any help for me though because I live more than 50 miles from an office and that was a requirement for every job they had open.
I was riffed in Oct 2023. The redeployment team is a joke. I never heard from anyone. I submitted 73 applications, interviewed a handful of times and ghosted. Was with the company 17 years in the same area. Crickets. I am seeking now they did me a favor, so much better off.
Hmm. If you look at the actual job postings, when it asks if you've been rifed, it specifically says you won't get special treatment when you apply.
My teammate was told there were no jobs....despite jobs. I have applied internally 15 times in a handful of years. I've been screened twice and hired once. That's it. Without your boss contacting people on your behalf, your chances are slim even without rif.
talking from my personal experience. Redeployment team is efficient. If you really qualify for a job when I say really, I mean really qualify for a job you should apply to those and definitely talk to the redeployment team to connect with the hiring manager. The redeployment team will literally ask the hiring manager over email why, your resume is not picked up for interview in email. So definitely work with them. I have been riffed as well as been people manager so I would definitely encourage you to work with them and push them on getting you an interview. If you really qualify.
I have never heard of one person being contacted by a redeployment recruit. I was never contacted either - you have to be out there for yourself - they do not and will not support us - they let us go once - why would they want to get us back in. The redeployment recruiter is a joke - is it even a real thing - or something they made up to make people feel better.
Just apply for it but you have to be active enough do do it on your own.
I delt with an got no help from my redeployment recruiter. I was able to stay internal but I put over 80 internal applications in.
You will need to make your redeployment recruit work for you. It's a lie when they say you get a personal recruiter you don't they are helping other folks in the rif as well as exteneral applications. You will have to be proactive internally to see process.
