If 'they' posted the requirements for my job, I would have never applied for this. I hate it. My job morphed from a nice programmer position to a job from he-l.

Well, looks like you've got some relief.
Suggest a better time that will work for both time zones or mention it to your manager that you were never today you would have to have a split-sleep schedule and it's not working out for you. Don't ask, tell them.
