Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Getting rid of the hardworking legacy CHC employees has always been the plan

Absolutely sick over all these layoffs. Learned that an outstanding employee with exceptional outcomes and client satisfaction was caught up in this yesterday yet people I know do less than nothing, never try to be helpful or play nice with anyone (including clients) are still here…why? My friend was told she “should apply for other positions” but lets face it, everyone who has reported they did that was not rehired, and if you look up open positions with UGH 60% or more are looking for people offshore. It is obvious Optum has always planned to get rid of the loyal and hard working legacy CHC employees, assume their client and payer information and move on with not a care in the world about the lives and homes they are destroying in their path. It’s all very sad and I wish the government had never approved their buyout of CHC.

I came across this post, and I think it deserves its own thread. Found at @1mgo+1v2xyMgx.

What an ignorant comment you made. Posts such as your are not needed or wanted., very unproductive! You would do well to work on your judgemental behavior. Maybe it's you that's not worth sh-t. Now was that a helpful to you or anyone using this site the way it should be..NO it wasn't. Post your nasty, hateful comments somewhere else. This isn't the place.

As soon as the Optum funding is paid back by clients, all legacy CHC employees will be gone or redeployed.

I also believe this to be true. Most of the legacy CHC apps will be simply decommissioned.

"Good code? Like the garbage that got hacked because it lacked the most basice of security practices? That kind of S.O.P. for CHC?... a terrible company, run by conmen?"

You obviously have no idea what was hacked, nor how it was done.

Most of Optum consists of bullsh-t jobs where people rubber stamp stupid documents, like it's the DMV, and add value by scheduling numerous meetings to discuss more bullsh-t.

It's no wonder why Optum's appsec requires so many scans.

Sorry, but Optum is what required us to outsource to third parties that don't update their hardware. Has nothing to do with code.

This corporation (UHG/Optum) is very poorly run and it might be a blessing to be let go from it. From an engineering perspective, this place is a career ki-ler. Most of us went from being very productive and pumping out good code and functionality to floundering on ridiculous Optum processes that do little more than block productivity. Not to mention the replacement of acceptable contracting resources with terrible replacements that can't perform the work. This company is not cutting edge in any way.

Thanks, I needed the laugh. I know CHC people "worked hard," but they don't produce anything except drama. UHG got sc--wed in that purchase... CHC was a house of cards, on the brink of insolvency. It'd have been better to let it file for bankruptcy and pick apart the bones for pennies on the dollar.

Out of 100 CHC employees, I've met 3 that are worth a sh-t.

That was happening way before the Optum merger. Most of my former co-workers were laid off and replaced by Wipro employees living in India. Optum just continued the process.

It's just their way. They remove competitors from the market, try to take over and make the acquired company's clients theirs (UHG). Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. They acquire and then dismantle them, dump the employees to reduce expenses/cost and the intrinsic knowledge that goes with them. Then they can "play" d-mb.

They have zero interest in making the healthcare system better for all. They only have interest in reducing competition so they can show how much they are needed in the marketplace.

This company clearly violates anti-trust laws but our elected officials can't seem to see past their pockets and stock. They are shareholders so therefore they are ok so long as the value goes up. It's a sick circle.

Same as it ever was. All merger and acquisition activities work this way. Just like warfare the conquering army writes the history gets the bo--y. Acquired company gets disassembled with many casualties. Natural business cycle company starts and actually cares what is going on then needs outside financing to grow and the is where things unravel. Go through A B C D rounds of funding. Next step IPO or get gobbled up by a bigger fish hide in private equity then the pump and dump begins for IPO. Rinse wash repeat. As soon as the problem you are there to solve fades away or can be done cheaper poof bye bye. Been there done that double digits x in 34 years of working. Helps to get that first dose young to wake up and be able to pivot.
