Can someone explain reason why we lay someone off and ask them to stay on job for 30 days. I don't think I have ever witnessed this before... I understand if you voluntarily choose to separate you pick a future date...

I was just laid off, and while I’m still on payroll and have access to the main bldgs til the 15th, it’s to look for internal jobs, submit time cards, and anything else I can’t do off of Intel’s network. They told me I don’t have to come back if I don’t want to.
At least you don't have security escorting you to your desk to collect your things. You can't say that you're leaving with your head held high, but at least there's no walk of shame.
Fu-k them all. They are all wasted of space and trash. They are worthless that’s why they got fired in first place
In Ireland some DM’s/AM’s who took ERP have been asked and staying in for extra 6 months

I think it might have to do with open enrollment. Intel is paying Cobta as part of the severance package and employees have the opportunity to make changes during open enrollment
I know 7 factory workers who were ISP'd. They all lost factory access but can come onsite to use the bullpen computers for internal job searches. And yes, there are current internal openings aligned with those who ERP/VSP'd from critical roles.
They take those 30 days and do sabotage.
@zyt+1v37aIPe they already told us there is no redeployment. Seems like they're basically making people clock in/out and earn that "redeployment" pay by doing nothing but watching you suffer. If I was still there I would ask my manager. I jumped ship 9/30. They were not going to control my mental health by messing with it and controlling the narrative when there was a nicely padded package to accept.
Probably have to do with legality and to be safe

It's all about the holidays. The turkeys are sla-ghtered just before thanksgiving so the ELT can enjoy their meal. They can return in December and start talking about green shoots, north stars, restore and reward again.
