The key thing here is this is in place of any team holiday celebrations. They know a lot of people won't show up on a Tuesday night, while more people would on average get together with their teams for lunch or dinner on the company dime. End of the day, it's just another cost cutting measure.

No jealousy here. Just disgust. And amazement that they still thing a little party is going to do anything for morale. And announcing that DW is hosting, like that will motivate us to go. I don’t want to spend unpaid time with those jerks. Don’t try to pretend we are a family. Want to do something good for morale? Give me more money. And stop treating us like children, insulting our intelligence.
They didn’t even tell you - but I have it on good authority - that this “celebration” is in lieu of any team luncheons etc. In other words, this is all you’re getting.
There should be a huge Christmas tree and every ornament should have the name of a laid off or PIP’d employee that Darren discarded.
I hear a lot ungratefulness and jealousy couched in clever phrases. Yall have to find a way to use that energy and intelligence for positive purposes!
