Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Benefits

Annual enrollment time of the year and I just cringe on how much medical insurance cost at Windstream. So much money out of pocket before it covers anything. My wife works for a health care insurance company and can’t believe how bad the Windstream offerings are.

The benefits are absolute garbage lol. Horrible plans at disgusting rates. High premium, high deductible, low-tier garbage.

An absolute joke of an organization, meanwhile all the crazy HR cat ladies pitch this with a glazed-over look and a phony smile. Delusional brain dead people.

I think I'm going to go take a rest in my hot tub now.

Let me share the inspirational message the CEO gave provided when I was with the S***hole called Windstream - "Its not a prison and we do not lock the doors!" Now don't you feel better now?

Benefits have always been bad at the W. Nobody stays there for the money or benefits. It's the experience most are after. It's true that pay is way better elsewhere. I'm making about 200% more than what I was making. I've seen many skilled and knowledgeable people walked while the buddy system worked for others. The metrics that leadership sets is all that matters. Not customers or employees happiness. Only thing the W is giving regular employees is pizza and 0 to 1% raises. You should of been looking for a new job years ago.

I was laid off last year in May, but come back to this site because I still have a few friends left at windstream.

You all should be looking for something else, I picked up a 42k raise moving to the next place that does a max deducible on insurance for the high plan of 3k and a 9% 401k match.

I don't even think the pay here is all that great, its just that I got so accustomed to staying at a safe place for so long and got used to joke raises while I got further and further away from what the industry was paying at other places.

Don't think it getting laid off won't happen to you, everyone here can be replaced no matter how much of a subject matter expert you are.

Zero incentive to try harder at this place. All they care about is metrics and keep throwing that down your throat. Why would I try any harder if I’m getting cr-p insurance and benefits?

I agree , the benefits at this company come up way short. My friends from our competitors have much better health insurance, 401k match, salary. I’m hanging on and waiting for my opportunity to bolt out of here.

And they wonder why nobody cares to go above and beyond. Morale is horrendous. Employees don’t value their jobs at Windstream which is obvious by the yearly engagement survey.

Windstream is self-funded. I can't look anymore but when I was there they had to disclose the finances of their insurance program and it was regularly a $1m-$3m profit center for the company.

They SU-K

Have to get the people that works to pay for expensive benefit packages so that people that don't work get free coverage. just my two cents.

What's sad is that most people I know that work for other companies, theirs is worse. Way more expensive for the same or worse coverage.
