Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

C1 & DFS Merger

I read all these C1 comments on this page and it really makes me concerned about DFS employees future. DFS is about 5 times smaller than C1. DFS doesn't try to be the market leader but instead focuses on steady profit, excellent customer service and employee satisfaction.

Once C1 takes over DFS it can be a whole new game. I suspect most of DFS upper leadership will get the parachute pkg and be pushed out. Only leader left will be the Jason from DFS network and who know how long he will hold out.

Question: DFS allows employees to work from home 2 days a week. What is the policy at C1?

This merger may enhance C1 but I think it will be the death of the wonderful life at DFS.

I joint DFS/Discover 6 months back on a Legacy Team. I have 2 AWS certification passed using dumps.

Will I be able to survice when CapOne/Capital One takes over?

I've been able to successfully dominate my DFS manager.

Glad to hear this is called off. The DFS folks sound like they feel superior to existing COF folks. Like we need a bunch more self important, back stabbing, bottom feeders at this company. We have them in spades thanks to the toxic culture where everybody is incentivized to try to undercut their co-workers to try to get that next slot up in the forced distribution. This sort of culture creates an awful place to work and undermines trust and cooperation.

Go read Blind for how much Cap One is viewed as having a cr-ppier Amazon culture due to all the ex-Amazon rejects they keep hiring at the upper levels - same politics and mindless metrics for less pay than Amazon. The also age discriminate more than the standard Fortune 500.

Cap1 is very close-minded. Look back through history. The only reason Cap1 merges or buys someone is for their access. Most times, the acquisition is a sh!+$h0w, just ask anyone who Hibernia 20 years ago, it was very messy when Cap1 showed up on property. There are other examples. I will also say, after working at Cap1, that it warped my sense of what's right and wrong. Specifically, how they treat employees is rather twisted once you unwrap the pretty packaging they put around their culture. They like to play "gotcha" with one another, especially around MY and EOY ratings, PIPs, coaching, etc. I'm not sure how our government agencies will sleep well approving this merger, especially if they dug deep into the history and internals of Cap1 and how bad it's gotten in the past 15 years. It's not the same company by any stretch. People management is abysmal at best. Lots of examples, which I'm sure have been scrubbed off the records, of mistreatment and abuse of employees. From a business operations perspective, there's the compliance training and then breaking of federal rules like redlining, etc. where they outsource specific functions to non-finance companies to get around the law. But it's covered up well, so I'm sure on paper everything looks great to the regulators and this will be approved right after the election.

Cap One is a clown show. You should update your resume.

Capital one’s hybrid model has Monday and Friday as virtual days. The other days may have in person requirements. You are expected to spend about 50% of your week in the office. This could change in the future.

I find Capital One very "Tribal" especially in US Card. I don't know how DFS will adapt to the "Credit" culture of C1. I see outside hires who didn't come through the ADP get PIPed very quickly. It's going to be messy.

DFS non network systems are a dead beat at its best. Compliance and legal issues at DFS makes it hardly desirable.
COF wants DFS network.

Capital One is a sh-t show and I’m sorry to every DFS associate. I assure you will be miserable in the most toxic corporate environment you could think of. Welcome to a world of constant anxiety and stress. Your turn to be run through the worry of back stabbing, bullying, lies, coaching plans, and PIPs. Don’t say you’ve not been warned.

Hired as an onsite employee with DFS. Dodged my senior manager and made him allow me work remotely from East Coast.
I barely work and earn more than everyone in current DFS team. I'm a smartie.
I will be able to dodge COF too and get remote work. I'm a AWS man and COF will want me undrestand?
