Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

I sure hope this person is right re: layoffs

Everyone needs to calm down. (And no, I am not an executive, lol).

It's not like HPE and Juniper started talking a month before the acquisition announcement in January. With the amount of cash on the line (14bn), I would assume this has been in talks over the past year or two.

If you need a reference, look at Aruba. They were bought nine years ago for 3 billion and still have Aruba in their name. We were bought for 4x that. They aren't going to ki-l the golden goose, and let's face it, even after the sale, we will still be the golden goose. Just look at the trend is all I am saying.

Their salespeople don't know our stuff, nor do we know theirs. Their SEs don't know our stuff, nor do we know theirs (or even care to). I know companies that 'merged' together, and it took them at least five years to start eliminating departments and org changes.

Everyone needs to chill TF out. Will some fat-trimming happen? Sure. Are they going to blow away Juniper? #ell no. Stop reading this BS on here. It's so contradicting that it's not even funny. If you look at previous stuff from in the spring, "big layoffs in May!" or "Big layoffs in June - just watch!", then went into July and nothing.

Don't cause unnecessary anxiety when no one knows what tomorrow brings. We have enough anxiety as it is.

Anxiety led me to scroll through our board to see if there’s any news. I came across this in replies, and a. It makes sense, and b. I hope they are right. Found here: @yue+1uPUt7Ic.

First off if you still believe Juniper is a leader outside a growing few iSPs imo you’re in denial. Juniper whom I worked missed the boat a decade or more ago, has weak support snd unlike Aruba which was the leader in their field has only moderate name recognition. HPE is another slowly sinking ship with just ok products.

I believe Juniper had to register that knowledge with the SEC before it even took place.

I’m guessing this is why the whole offer letter thing. HPE will report how many employees came over, glossing over the ones that didn’t.

Otherwise your comment is spot on.

Well what do ya know. Another round of BS on here (I was the one who posted the original 'calm TF down' post a few weeks ago that is being referenced here).

In the past 45 days, it has gone from "Closing on Oct11!", to "Late Oct - get ready for layoffs!" to now, "looking like a mid-nov close!"

Do you hear yourselves?!?!?

There are only a few people who know when the close is, and they certainly ain't on here. There hasn't been one prediction that has panned out on here. If there is, prove it.

Just like the acquisition itself. NO ONE SAW IT COMING. Even my manager's manager didn't even know. If anyone knew, then show me posts pre-January stating this fact. Now that it has come, everyone is chiming in with these random inside scoops. "Get ready for layoffs!". If you are stating this, then it's probably your performance that you should care about. Fat trimming is good. You don't throw away the filet.

To prove my point, I ask you this.

  1. Remember the whole layoff last October? I believe Juniper had to register that knowledge with the SEC before it even took place. There is NOTHING stating the same is happening in the next few months. If there is, post it here.
  1. Why the h#ll, would Juniper get rid of quality people only to have HPE people do the same job? Their whole business has been piecemealed together with a shiny logo on it. They have no in-depth knowledge of our products, solutions, or even roadmaps. All they have is battle cards, which are probably outdated, just like we do with them. If they were doing so well with their products, why purchase Juniper? To prove my point with HPE, go look at their threads on this site. They look a lot worse than JNPR's as they should be.

If there is anything gained from this site is the impressive hyperbole examples.

OP, if you are not expecting a 20 percent chop you are either naive or just don’t know how acquisitions work. Timing is debatable but will surely happen in the next 6 months.

Layoffs will happen between Nov 1st and December 1st, with offer letters going out to who's left on December 6th.
