Energy Products Executive Retreat

10 executives are going to Las Vegas for the next 3 days. The estimated spend is about $150K. Think about that the next time your supervisor goes crazy because your anniversary party is $10 over budget.

Hypocrisy at its finest. Would expect nothing less from that group of truly icky people!

How was this ever approved? Zero justification for going offsite when EMHC is a ghost town of giant meeting rooms.

@2ysr+1v0mTcTd brining multiples in revenue? Do you know what industry you are in? The profit his directly proportional to market forces - e.g., crude oil price. The overall management and strategist have failed but it does not matter as we are not in a business of innovation.

if you can't give real names of those who are partaking in such activities, give initials and nick names. Time to make a list.

They probably bring in multiples of that in revenue while the guy complaining in controllers is a pure cost center

Clearly a boondoggle. Houston has many venues which could host a group of this size including EMHC empty buildings.

Seems reasonable at $15K each.
These are executives after all.
Beach house in Provincetown or Fire Island would be much more pricey.

@1qvu They don’t need La Quinta. Unlike puritanical Texas, it’s actually legal to have some fun in Nevada. Probably why the execs are going in the first place.

Get the mop and bucket out to clean up the corporate or*y in aisle 2! Sitting around yanking each other’s ego off about how brilliant they are at cutting cost and outsourcing, while my expense report shows a Starbucks rather than La Quita Lobby coffee is outrageous. Embarrassing for whole group, don’t come back to the office, no one wants you here. Dig a hole in the desert and keep together…but send the jet back. It still has value.

There is only one reason they would pick Vegas. La Quinta! Gross.

How nice! Maybe that's why we are being told not to travel anymore for the rest of the year.

Such shining examples of humanity. Cut opex by stealing retirements (of people who actually generated value) to fill their own pockets and frequent flier accounts. Not a single one has ever had an original thought. Super gross

Are these the same "geniuses" behind the employee forum mentioned a few weeks ago? https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1uuOUeMY

If they are, the line about "a perfect alignment of managers finding new excuses to live it up in far-flung corners of the world on business expenses while cutting the 'HC-10' headcount of the rank and file" seems depressingly accurate

Can’t they just go to Collette’s here in Houston?

Typical for the dull and tone deaf pinnacle of the parasite pyramid. Cost in BTC FTEs is ~10 BTC

They have to use up this years budget, else if they don't, then the company will allocate less money for them next year and instead give it to shareholders buy doing share buybacks.
People at the top live a totally different type of a life then those at the bottom. That's just the fact of being rich vs. poor.
The US gov't printed $7 Trillion to help with covid. Most of it is either sitting in US Treasury collecting 5% interest or being invested to make the stock market pump upwards. The rich getting richer by $7 Trillion within the past few years.

Let's hope they hit big on their bets and save what's left of their business. Whether in Houston or Vegas, they are gambling!
