It seems most of them are tight-lipped, paranoid, and looking to jump ship.

Seems like it? My coworker and I were told not to talk to certain people unless our manager is present. She's been acting like a psycho for months.

'Doesn't take much to survive.'

Not so sure about that anymore.

Some of the serial bu++ kissers just moved on from the previous CMO to the current one, that's all. Doesn't take much to survive.

They've had to act as if everything were normal, despite being told over a year ago that they were all on the layoff list. Expecting them to act motivated is unrealistic.

Marketing became a popularity contest and bu++ kissing contest under the last CMO, seasoned with a healthy amount of big-time gaslighting on every level.

I wouldn't say that things have improved since the big layoff in May. That said, I don't expect any more layoffs in marketing, given the really low numbers of marketing employees on hand now. I can see a few non-performers getting axed, but also expect marketing hiring to pick up in 2025 to a decent extent.

White women run corporate USA.
  • 2000 and 2020, out of 83 women who served as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, 72 were white women.

Let that sink in.

  • 86.8% of the women CEOs were white, and 13.2% were non-white during the 2000-2020 period.

Of the remaining 11, at least a handful are of mixed-race.

No way. Why would they do that. What would they have to gain.

45% American females voted for Donnie T. White women run corporate USA.

If you had worked in Marketing over the past year, you'd likely feel paranoid too.

It seems most of them are tight-lipped, paranoid, and looking to jump ship.
  • Are they tight-lipped because they informed PE through recorded video meetings?
  • Puff-puff pass screenshot of dozens of people on call while K@nde Kayne was on-camera, flapping away, elegantly holding a long cigarette holder like a true socialite.
  • If you had worked in Marketing over the past year, you'd likely feel paranoid too. Every meeting, including one-on-ones, ought to be reviewed by a third party.
  • Those focused on their career advancement are actively pursuing new job opportunities, recognizing that other companies are far ahead of Alteryx.

That’s the whole point. Nobody in marketing leadership has the guts to state why decisions like this were made.
  • Marketing - Top-Down Approach

Speaking up against leadership's marketing ideas? Good luck—you'll likely be pressured into quitting or have effectively volunteered for layoffs. Their ego is the size of Antarctica.

The motto here is "DO AS YOU'RE TOLD"—forget about your ideas or inclusivity.

Marketing has become even worse than it was under the previous regime — just lacks the “rah rah” that it had before (and the $hottie music videos before the all hands meetings.

Haven't noticed. It seems most of them are tight-lipped, paranoid, and looking to jump ship.

This never should have happened. Who actually made this decision, anyway?

From there it didn’t take long for the marketing gaslighting to intensify and then the marketing death spiral to accelerate.

Bravo.

Absoutely correct.

Marketing seems to be predominantly composed of white women. What bros?

That's what I've been asking for days now, and NO ONE seems to be able to provide an answer.

The sole token brown/Arab woman was recently let go.

Elevating junior staff who don't have the qualifications for their current position (or the one before) to new "leadership" roles is going over as well as the drag queen bingo virtual events did.

This. The biggest failing of Alteryx on the marketing side was hiring multitudes of people whose abilities and experience were 2 levels below the positions they were hired into. Most all of the former CMO’s direct reports fell right into this bucket.

And then everyone went on a promotion binge, promoting so many junior people into positions they didn’t have the ability to do. Specialists promoted to managers, senior managers promoted to Directors (this was the worst and most egregious problem) and even senior directors receiving “instant promotions” to VP.

It was just all so sickening to watch in 2022 and 2023. Meanwhile the people who were around who DID know the market and DID have experience and seniority were axed starting in late 2022 and into the first layoff of 2023.

From there it didn’t take long for the marketing gaslighting to intensify and then the marketing death spiral to accelerate.

So it was so easy for many of us to see…and predict.

Usually technologies and technical concepts fall out of fashion/favour, and then come back years later as the next greatest thing, under a different name.

Yeah, sc--w innovation and advancements. Why would I want fast internet when I could go back to using a dial-up modem.

So yes, no question that not only will Alteryx survive as a Windows native app, but it is going to thrive.

Thanks for the LULz. Next up, revival of America Online and AIM!

MySpace & Friendster going to drop their new platforms any day now. Y'all ain't ready.

Everything in tech becomes fashionable again, after a period of years. No question that Windows and Windows-native apps will cycle back into pre-eminence in the near future.

how do you, like, not totally give away that you're buzzed when you're on video calls?

Drink out of a large plastic tumbler or water bottle etc.

Use video as little as possible. Talk as little as possible. Maintain your buzz level just low enough to not be obvious.

It’s not too hard.

Having to deal with CD drives me to have to drink even more to get through my days.

I start by taking 70mg of Vyvanse and 1 gram of L-Theanine with quinoa almond jello pudding. Then, I down three shots of Jäger, followed by a brisk 10-minute jog around the yard whilst crying.

After jogging, I head inside for a shower, during which I let out three invigorating screams. Once out, I dry my hair, give myself a couple of face slaps for vigor, apply some eyeliner, and voilà, I'm ready to face CD for 60 minutes.

And they are almost impossible to put on a PIP or fire.

I was threatened and apprehensive when my former manager at Alteryx exhibited a foul mood, and threatened me with a PIP.

I chose to remain silent until she officially documented her actions against me in writing. I also did my own documentation. Upon doing so, I sought the assistance of HR by providing them with copies of my medical records, which listed disabilities that had been listed on my employment application and were still accessible within our company's database, Workday.

It was a relief to witness the subsequent termination of my former manager for harassment. This incident reinforced the significance HR places on addressing such issues, particularly when dealing with leaders who appear dismissive toward the challenges faced by their subordinates.

If you have documented health issues and find that your supervisor is excessively critical or difficult to work with, you must take action immediately. Begin by sending an email to (JB) – the appropriate recipient in our company, as they are lead HR and involved in people culture matters.

Including multiple HR/People Culture contacts within the org hierarchy will increase the chances of ensuring that your concern is heard and addressed. While one HR partner might potentially disregard your complaint, a smaller group of individuals are more likely to take your concerns seriously and assist you in finding a resolution.

Boomers (leadership) from Alteryx need to retire early. Threatening younger generations is a foolish idea. They will record you, put it on social media, and your job will be eliminated.

I agree, it is quite stupid.

People get in, or stay in, because they fit a certain quota. It doesn't have to be race, nor gender related. It can be a "perceived" disability. And they are almost impossible to put on a PIP or fire.

Why the fu-k would anyone want to work hard if the other person with the same title doing 20% of the work is getting the same raises?

Seems like it’s time to bite the bullet on leaving for new opportunities but it su-ks to leave behind great coworkers and a product you love.

The only reason I'm still here is because of three co-workers I absolutely love working with. If one of them leaves, I'm out.
