Is it accurate that people who have been layed off are being forced into training their HIH replacements?

You can believe it or not, but this has been Cigna's practice since at least 2006 when it happened to my whole team. The work was outsourced to a company here in the States, and we were told the new company would make offers of employment to some on the team, we could post internally, and those who didn't get an offer from the new company or an internal offer would be job eliminated. We were also told we must train the people at the new company or no severance for anyone who didn't get one of the offers. Thankfully, I got an offer from the other company and one for an internal posting.
This was done in 2011 or 2012 when some functions were sent off shore. People were told to train the replacements for 90 days or forfeit the severance
Many years ago I was told to train folks from an outside company to do what I did every day. I trained them but I posted out and every person in that team who did not either had to find a new position last minute, go work for the other company or get job eliminated. It happens.
Sounds like typical evil corporation behavior - they typically don't make it obvious, though.
Anyone that goes along with something like this is a spinless cuck, consequences be damned.
"Yes! Which is what I was told"
Details, please. This is hard to believe, even for Cigna.
I doubt they're telling people You're fired and oh by the way you're going to spend your last weeks here training your replacement. But maybe someone else will correct me with a real example.
I can only imagine the horrible training that most people would give on their way out the door, even if Cigna threatened to take away severance for not doing what was asked.
Yes! Which is what I was told
Probably not
