Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

The Death and of copper??

“The bulk of savings will come from streamlining the structure of its enterprise business, reducing the number of networks to one from four, making it less cumbersome to manage orders for customers and deliver services, Stansbury said. The company expects to complete that effort by the end of 2025, generating about $1 billion in savings, he added.”

So this was in last week’s WSJ interview with Stansbury, Any Guess as to what exactly will just (ONE) network look like,

Management in Colorado has already given up on copper. Been told if it is not fiber, do not fix it, unless it is a friend of the CEO

I guess these FCC complaints I’ve been running every week are going to magically disappear, then. Not to mention Kate Johnson still gets called out on social media then sends down a barrage of emails to lower management to get these customers back online.

Good luck ki-ling off copper when people’s fire alarms are stilled tied to the legacy network. Let me know how it goes when you tell the water pump stations that have no other alternatives that we wont be providing them services anymore.

If you're in the copper business.
Don't get too comfortable.
The days are numbered.
Either move on to greener pastures or educate yourself.
You snooze you lose!

Yep, but we're still provisioning new orders on the legacy networks and no viable plan to migrate existing circuits over. Total cluster. Every "fix" to the problem of duplicate networks or duplicate systems is just to add another one without resolving the underlying problem.

Outsiders read Stansbury's PR hype and think it represents a more accurate view than the last ELT.

In Enterprise space, the refer to the different networks by colors and each has their own set of ordering and provisioning systems, etc.

Blue was associated with Global Crossing.
Green was associated with CenturyLink.
Orange was associated with TW Telecom.
Red was associated with Level 3.
