Is the rep still in who’s who now? If so they didn’t get fired.

Sorry, I grabbed the wrong quote. My comment pertains to this quote that insinuates that Fidelity can access everything on your phone remotely:

"That said, if they posted using a Fidelity device or a BYOD device, Fidelity might have tracked the activity. They are recording everything you do."

Yes, everything is 100% "discoverable" if they confiscate your phone...

"Your personally owned devices cannot be systematically accessed by Fidelity. However, Fidelity may request to review your personal device, whether you are enrolled in BYOD or not, as a part of an internal review or for regulatory or legal purposes."

Literally what the word discoverable means.

The only bar you passed had cheap vodka.

"Also, if you use BYOD, everything is discoverable, it says in the social media policy you attested to."

This is 100% false. They can only see what you're doing on Fidelity apps, not every app on your phone. The policy literally states:

"Your personally owned devices cannot be systematically accessed by Fidelity. However, Fidelity may request to review your personal device, whether you are enrolled in BYOD or not, as a part of an internal review or for regulatory or legal purposes."

Always impressed how people are easy manipulated with social engineering. All the cybersecurity tooling, teams monitoring, forme NSAs and still someone always trick you folks with your own ego. I just
hope don't get blamed again. You guys need to learn more emotional intelligence over central intelligence.

What is the subreddit called?

He’s still in who’s who as of today. But I’ll def keep looking.

It wasn’t the same person who posted the video on yammer. But it also wasn’t that hard to figure out who posted it on Reddit. If you looked at his Reddit post history and read all the NC yammer comments that week, you could put 2 and 2 together without much effort. I’m sure someone at Fidelity did it quicker than I did. I’d give more clues but I don’t wanna give him away if he actually hasn’t been caught.

Reddit guy took it too far. He posted in the fidelity sub as well as said things about how people should think twice about trusting their money to an incompetent company. He’s very young so hopefully he learns from this situation.

Where was it on Reddit?

I don’t think this is true. Yammer maybe. Reddit, not their real name, and you can see all of someone’s comments on Reddit. Nothing to indicate hey I got fired. I just really doubt it.

Also true, they could have absolutely outed themselves to someone they shouldn’t have trusted!

They may have posted on Reddit under their real name. My partner and I post on a Reddit about things going on in our neighborhood. My posts appear under a random name I didn’t choose. His appear under his own name. This person might have been using their account with their name. Or not, who knows if this story is even true. That said, if they posted using a Fidelity device or a BYOD device, Fidelity might have tracked the activity. They are recording everything you do.

Hey curious George, sorry, but that is the explanation when you work in corporate. It’s at will. You take code of conduct and social media training, and you attest that you’ll follow the policy. This person didn’t. If they got fired, it was for cause. If they didn’t, good for them, but they’re absolutely making risky and career limiting moves by putting their employer on blast publicly on social media instead of going through the proper channels to get the problem addressed. If you don’t understand this concept then you’re probably putting yourself at risk as well, along with all these fools on yammer.

"I already explained why it was unprofessional"

Sorry but this is not an explanation:

"He should have told his manager about it first and figured out the right channel to report that situation. His department head could have taken it to regional leadership."

Why would ANYONE need to "report" a situation that is clearly visible to anyone driving by -or- anyone who looked out the window from inside the company. This is akin to letting regional leadership know that its raining outside.

I hope the green kool-aid is tasty!!!!

Not surprised if it’s true but people need to learn not to pull career limiting moves like that no matter how strongly you feel against fidelity. That goes too with people on yammer commenting strong negative things. Protect yourself first

Wouldn’t it go against the social media posting rules that you agree to annually? Fidelity associates posting ABOUT Fidelity on social media need to tag it as Fidelity associate, etc.

Some people do post on Reddit under their own name btw. They sign in with google for example.

It’s a good reminder, despite all the propaganda, HR exists to protect the Firm. HR does not care about the individual employee. I hear the have a whole team monitoring Teams for indications people are using personal texting….big brother is always watching!

I already explained why it was unprofessional, frankly even to post it on yammer in the first place. The right first step would be to report the problem to his/their manager.

You need to be very careful what you post on yammer. It’s not Facebook. It’s not some kind of complaint mailbox If you’re going on there complaining, it is going to put you at risk.

It was posted on Yammer internally, then anyone else could have posted into Reddit. Reddit only needs an email to sign up and an obscure username. How would they know who this was?

Curious why unprofessional ? anyone can drive thru and see what is going on.

The reddit video appeared to be a video of what was posted internally because you could clearly see the computer and the person's house - so I highly doubt that they could pin it on one of the 80k people that work there. Nice try HR trolls.

Not sure if this is true, but that was a very stupid thing for him to do. He should have told his manager about it first and figured out the right channel to report that situation. His department head could have taken it to regional leadership. Posting it on Reddit was unprofessional.
