The issue within Corning that impacts performance the most is not race or s-x its having people who believe they are the smartest person in the room. Mostly these are people who have the CEO’s ear. They use this closeness as a intimidation technique to get people in line, call it group think if you like. This is how stupid, yes I do mean stupid, decisions such as Valor glass get made. A business Corning should have never pursued. Until we decouple product decisions from the CEO, and the sycophants, Corning will continue to spend enormous amounts of money on dead end products and ideas from these so called “smartest guy in the room”. I don’t see this happening soon sadly, RDE and EIG are lead by some sycophants.
Minorities get their due at Corning. The Black Technology Network gets paid a premium (Yes, I know the dirty little secret), and the effect of Christie Pambianchi's war on men remains. The business is suffering because too much money is blown on projects that never become fruitful. The Valor program is still in the red. So much so, that Corning is coating normal borosilicate vials. Corning is not 3M, as much as Wendell thinks it is. As for race, I would say the DEI nonsense hurts the company more than it helps. Your dark skin color is not a qualification. You aren't owed anything for it. He-l, Jews have it worse than you do. Cut the bullsh-t and quit whining.
Majority of blacks employees (technical) are let go already. We cant unsee these facts from inside. Your story seems to support that Corning as a crumbling “palace” has in fact very serious issues on discrimination, HR and other business matters.
If you still work at Corning, go to the organization chart and look at the row of executives directly below Wendell. There's not a lot of white men in that row. If there is any discrimination at Corning, it's against white males. In particular, older white males. Corning is too deep into that dei bs. That's why I (an old white male) was walked out the door.
The discrimination you mentioned is not only based on “ age, pregnancy, disability” but also race. Besides the deep-rooted systematic racism , Corning is using these cycles of layoffs to aggressively and heavily eliminate African-American employees.
You will never be treat as famiry.
@Bicycle Openings at SP are trap similar to 2022 hiring spree. Dont ever fall for it. Corning is no longer a great company. I was let go twice within 3 years. Corning is not for people who want to work hard and build career. Charge Out system is the main culprit. They will hire you but will never able to find sufficient projects for charge out and will fire you. Corning is well known for utilizing young and fresh brain for the sake of Corning's interest only and later firing them. STAW AWAY FROM TRAP. Also it is well known for discrimination ( age, pregnancy, disability). Read settlements from EEOC.
Sullivan Park has several job postings for scientists and engineers. For example: Senior Development Scientist Job# 64560. Several other technician positions are also available. It looks like things are now looking good at SP for technical people. Hickory is also hiring scientists & engineers. Maybe I should try to get back in? Unfortunately, I don't think I could be so lucky.
Erwin lost 5 engineers in Division this week I know of.
When, where, how many, anything?
