Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Sept 12 layoff

Creating a place to track the day. If you are impacted or know of impacts, the department impacted would be helpful or Senior leader if you feel more comfortable. For those who don’t want to be laid off… I’m sorry and for those that do, I’m glad you get relief.

Who was the IT Director?

@3wue+1utDyqWz Inactive with pay since they get severance. Yes it includes people in medical leave but if the people with an effective start date of 9/12 most will be layoffs. There were more than 300 but guessing maybe 2/3 are layoffs. Inactive without pay is regular offboarding or other leave types.

It was time for that IT Director to go. Nothing lost from my experience. Came in he-l bent his way or the highway. The teams under him had entirely too much knowledge to follow his lead. So, that’s considered a good move.

I wonder what you’re searching in service now to determine between regular attrition off boarding and layoff off boarding

If Cigna/Evenorth wasn't so secrective about the layoffs, no one would be checking this website. Have a good weekend!!!

I think only one person reported 3. Others are not reporting numbers. But clearly people knew sept 12th was the day and that was correct. I think the on shore jobs will slowly be eliminated if it can be outsourced.

From what I can see in ServiceNow about 300 people were laid off. I guarantee it is news for them and their families.

3 jobs in this or that very large department being eliminated at a company of 70k is not newsworthy. Not even a blip. On any given day at a company this size, more than 3 people lose their job and that really really su-ks for those affected. But it is not “news” for the masses. This website has taken up too much of my energy for pretty much no valuable insight. Doom scrolling. If anything, HR might leverage the threat of layoffs to encourage workforce reduction w/o having to pay severance. So I’d wager this website has been a net negative for most folks here.

Is the plan to move the majority of folks offshore? Just seems like this company is filled w many offshore and if on shore they are contractors. Why is that?

From what i know, it’s starting from the top and will trickle down to folks at the bottom. Many more re-orgs to come i think.
