Exclusive: Altera CEO Says Intel’s IPO Plan For FPGA Unit ‘Has Not Changed’

Altera CEO Sandra Rivera denies a report that Intel is planning to outright sell its programmable chip business. ‘We are executing to the plan, which is not a sale of Altera, but rather it is selling a stake in the business, which has always been the plan, which we've communicated for now over a year, and for us to do the IPO in 2026,’ she says.

What were they think having her run the FPGA biz? We are so inbred. When you start thinking about it really hard to come up with competent Intel leaders.

She has to say that at this point so the business appears to have value

She’s an employee - whilst she’s executing her plan (good luck with that btw ) … a new plan will likely be headed her way by the weekend. The business is nowhere near strong enough to IPO - and Intel needs its money back asap.

Same thing. You are going to be sold, and there will be no IPO, which is why it was set so far out. Mobileye IPO's right after the spinoff from Intel, and not 3 yrs later like in your "plan".

That's the funny thing about plans, they can always be changed. Like 5N4Y, that was the plan until, oops, we're gonna skip 20A.

Or to paraphrase Iron Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

She has to deny it. What other choice does she have? To confirm it before intel does?

@acu It is not up to her, but maybe the board declined the possibility of selling of Altera. That's why she commented now, and not a week ago.
