Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Just an observation on RTO but it's not the younger generation who's doing the complaining

Just my personal observation but all the 20 yr olds that I work have no issue with RTO.... A few even go into the office on non connect weeks. So i feel like they are getting a bad rap! And I never heard any of them complain about snack or coffee... (FYI I'm 47)

Seems it's the older employees who have kids and/or live far away from the office that's doing most of the complaining about RTO. I promise you, little Johnny will be OK if you don't make every one of his baseball practices...

Again this is just my observation...

Another round of layoffs at Fidelity coming soon… the older folks with years of experience and those on visas will be targeted. Not sure how many people will be impacted. Many employees have already moved on to other jobs and many are actively looking to get out.

Wouldn’t it go against the social media posting rules that you agree to annually? Fidelity associates posting ABOUT Fidelity on social media need to tag it as Fidelity associate, etc.

Some people do post on Reddit under their own name btw. They sign in with google for example.

What’s gonna happen? People will leave. Eventually. Markets are cyclical. Employers have an upper hand today. Tomorrow they won’t. It’s just how the world works now.

If snacks and RTO upset you, what's going to happen when there are no raises.

The executives want you in the office because 1) They want to micro manage you 2) They all treasure execution presence and having others basket in there presence 3) The believe if you come in and build a network when they sc--w you over via micro-management or reorganization every six months you will be brainwashed enough to not complain and learn to enjoy it. What they don’t want to do is compete with market rates or let all their secrets walk out the door…

The change.org petition was started in 2021 when they first started RTO.

So what if I want to be a part of my kids life? Just because you didn't do it for your kids or your parents didn't do it for you?
Me and my wife both have full time jobs. And we are both struggling with no family to get this to work with two little kids. It's a different world. Things won't change if we dont push for it. And it not like people are saying absolutely no office. We are asking for flexibility. Coming to the office to sit in a zoom call isnt helping anyone. It's not necessary for anything. I get it coming in every week, a day or two to meet and shoot the breeze or whatever. But everyone who wants more attendance isn't the one actually doing the work. So either pick up the keyboard and start picking up jira stories and writing code or stfu and go back to stuffing the ppt up the entire leadership chains a$$ and taking credit for others work.

I assure you...as a 57 year old... My kids are grown... I don't necessarily love going to the office, but I will go EVERY... DAMN... DAY... to keep my job.

The girl that started the change.org petition and the one now trying to start a union are both in their 20s. The people that commented on Fidelity Central, before comments were shut down, complaining about the free lunch stopping were in their 20s.
Heaven forbid people 30+ want to be involved in their children's lives and don't want to pay thousands of dollars in before and after school care since prices have significantly increased from the early and mid 2000s.

They don’t know what it was like before the pandemic, they don’t know what they’re missing

Us 20-something’s are just thankful to have a job in this economy with some stability. Those that are vested and probably couldn’t care less about leaving are ready to fly
