Release teams act like they are they are important to software updates. But they do not develop anything, nor do they test anything. IT survived for decades without release management. Totally unnecessary.

Chill Pill..LOL Take a good long look at Release Management and tell me what it is they provide as a useful service. Time will tell where the whole area ends up.

Take a chill pill. The "release team" is Release Management, which is a standard IT operations role. Googling will provide you the correct answer in this case. You could also check search SharePoint assuming you are an employee.

Google "release management". It's an IT function that plans and controls the deployment of software.
