I just posted this on the other thread:
"What I don't understand is if you clearly listed Centene as part of your work history, why would any HR department or recruiter waste their time and yours by contacting you only to turn around and say we're not hiring centene employees. It doesn't make sense. They would just pass on your application altogether because it's not going to lead anywhere!
Now, I'm not saying you're lying but I've seen similar posts and I can't help but wonder who these HR people are who don't seem to know what they're doing or at the very least are stringing people along and giving false hope of a job opportunity.
Perhaps someone who's worked in HR is willing to shed some light into this and if it's common practice to reach out to people you know you're not even going to interview just to tell them you're not going to interview them least of all because they worked for some specific company because the most I've ever gotten is an email saying thanks for your interest but you're not qualified, someone else was more qualified, we're going a different route, etc but never a call to then turn around and be so sad. sorry, not sorry but we're not going to interview you cause of where you worked. Thought I'd call and let you know don't get your hopes up. 🙄"
Personally "I" believe people are lying or making assumptions as to why the call led nowhere but I wasn't part of the call so how can I really say? The only calls I've ever gotten was to set up interviews and only ONCE in my entire work history did I have a hiring manager call seeking clarification on some info listed on my app which then led to setting up the interview. So I don't know. This is the only place I've ever seen people saying this "allegedly" happens.
