Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Durham Parking

No place to park in Durham. Parking in the grass.

They haven't a clue how to manage RTO.

If you want me to come to office then its bare minimum that YOU provide a parking space and a desk to sit. But wait its Fidelity and it doesnt matter even if I come before 10 AM, I spend 20 minutes in finding parking and no desk to sit so I sit on sofa without monitors, eat tasteless FLIK food with long queue in cafe.

All this becasue :

  • Your L10 leaders can say they successfully implemented RTO
  • Your useless L-7 L8 GSL/ PAL/ CL/SM can show off and pretend to understand the work that I am doing by wasting my time to explain them for 45 minutes.
  • You overhired and do not want to pay severances.

Really???

There’s info in the Merrimack yammer about the garage and sidewalks, started on the 3rd. Contra ran out of parking but there is tons on the other side of Spartan, always empty, by the third unknown parking garage.

Back in my day, we’d take a van pool to work. Didn’t have to deal with parking. Of course I had to get up at 4:30 and drive to the pick up spot, which actually increased my commute by an hour. Also I was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted by the time I got to work.
But it helped make me into the pr--k that I’ve become.

No parking in MMK either, people on the grass and blocking lot exits. Also heard a rumor of parking lot repaving and sidewalk updates too for the fall. Haven’t confirmed this yet though.

I hope Fidelity gets all the bad press they deserve from this. They want people to quit (or not comply so they are fire-able) so they don't have to do a layoff and pay severance, all because they over-hired during the pandemic. As a former employee (who left voluntarily for another industry) I remember all their lip service about being an "employer of choice" and being uniquely positioned to care about employee experience (since they're private and don't have shareholders to pander to.) It's all BS. They don't care about their employees. They care about their bottom line. It was subtly proven to me time and time again while I was there. Now they're just being blatant about it. F*ck 'em.

Are there jobs out there for us to go to? Not in this economy. We’re talking about a corporation here, everyone. Remember when we were in control during the pandemic? This is just a corporate coming back showing they are in charge.

Hey news flash to all the geniuses discussing how 'boomers' love the RTO and parking situation. Employees that are in that age group are affected by having to go back to the office and the change that brings. They also can't find parking at certain locations and are also pi---d about the roll out of this $hit$how. So stop it with your whining about your fellow employees that are also in the same boat. You sound like the entitled, snowflakes that the press labels you as - see? Boomers are good at sweeping generalizations too

Perfect solution for all the people they obviously need is to not force back to office

Show up when I’m supposed to but do the absolute bare minimum for a few hours til I land a new job seems like the play here. Sad to say it because I had at earlier times enjoyed and respected this place, but this crop of revolving door do nothing leadership is a joke

The video tell the story perfectly. So many people are desperate to keep their jobs so they comply.

It is fruitless, sorry to say.

The parking situation will be resolved after rightsizing occurs very soon. There will even be open spaces. Very temporary situation.

Fully expect they will contract in other nearby lots and have shuttle busses in the meantime.

Someone should take a pic or video and sent to a local news station.

Boomers love misery as long as we're around them to share in it. They got nobody at home that wants to be near them to hear about the ranting of the good ol' days
