Applying to Molina - not being considered because of Centene experience?

I left Centene about 7 months ago and have been applying to Molina for jobs that I know I'm a great fit for but keep getting rejected almost immediately...I can't help but wonder if it's because they won't consider someone who worked for Centene? I had a recruiter reach out to me for a contract job within BCBS then ghosted me, when I followed up with him he said they are not allowed to consider anyone coming from Centene. Wondering if it's the same with Molina. Does anyone have any insight to this?

I doubt it’s a Centene thing. They’d lie to you before flat out telling you that. The only exception may be conflicts of interest or non compete clauses in delegated work. It would be pretty stupid to exclude someone purely on association with a former company, and even more for anyone to openly say that.

It was a recruiter who didn’t know until his manager told him.

What I don't understand is if you clearly listed Centene as part of your work history, why would any HR department or recruiter waste their time and yours by contacting you only to turn around and say we're not hiring centene employees. It doesn't make sense. They would just pass on your application altogether because it's not going to lead anywhere!

Now, I'm not saying you're lying but I've seen similar posts and I can't help but wonder who these HR people are who don't seem to know what they're doing or at the very least are stringing people along and giving false hope of a job opportunity.

Perhaps someone who's worked in HR is willing to shed some light into this and if it's common practice to reach out to people you know you're not even going to interview just to tell them you're not going to interview them least of all because they worked for some specific company because the most I've ever gotten is an email saying thanks for your interest but you're not qualified, someone else was more qualified, we're going a different route, etc but never a call to then turn around and be so sad. sorry, not sorry but we're not going to interview you cause of where you worked. Thought I'd call and let you know don't get your hopes up. 🙄

Our state posts multiple positions, but will only hire from a temp agency, unless it’s in management. We are sooooo top heavy in management.

Also, I’m not spreading anything, pot stirring, or pointing blame. I have no reason to lie about what a recruiter told me. I’m applying for Business analyst, claims, and grievance and appeals positions all of which I did at Centene.

Unfortunately he did not explain why and when I asked him if there was a period of time after leaving Centene where I could be considered again all he said was “I’m not sure”. I wanted to ask why but it was obvious he wanted to cease communication with me so I just left it.

I'm sorry but did he say why he wasn't allowed to consider anyone from Centene? That sounds so stupid, why are people spreading this - centene looks bad on your resume? What type of position are you applying for? I seriously doubt they see Centene and just say nope!
