Guard the snacks!

Anyone else have a security guard at their pulse point guarding the snacks?

In the office today and with the new vending arrangement that started yesterday, a security guard is posted to assure nobody takes a snack without paying for it.

This is what this company has become.

I was in the NYC office the other day. I was never going to pay a penny for their snacks. But was curious what the prices were after being free the last two years. I scanned a small bag of potato chips and it was $2.70 lol. I can take an elevator and get chips for $1 on the street. Honestly bizarre to even offer such expensive snacks in the office. Is that supposed to be some sort of perk?

The new SnackGate! Snacks are disappearing as fast as they are being put out at my location. They are grabbing it while the getting is good! I think management is just putting out what was already stockpiled from their last run to Costco.

I'm the Robin Hood of snacks. I've been taking your snacks and giving them to the snackless. This company is a joke!

If associates could work from home full time, Elevance Health would not need to pay for security guards guarding flavorless snacks.

People steal snacks. People stole the clorox wipes during covid. People get shady when they're desperate or angry.

I saw the guard looking bored out of his mind watching the exit and the snacks in the ATL office today.

When I saw one of the guards sitting outside the snack area, I said "They aren't making you guard the snack room?" He said yes for this week and next.

I walked into the snack area to see what the prices were, and nothing had a price on it. And everything was fully stocked at the end of the day... meaning people bought very little or nothing at all- Which is exactly what we should all do, leave everything in there.
for $6 bucks I picked two packs of 12 cheese sticks and some ice tea mix that i'll bring with me when I work in the office.

At my previous job we had snacks and an honor system. Every month we were short. No one fessed up till I stayed late and heard the sound of wrappers, I peaked around the corner and there was security eating the snacks. Lol go figure. We ended up canceling the service because the time and effort to keep track of it. A vending machine was later installed. It says a lot when a company pays for security to guard snacks. Actions speak volumes, they need to get a vending machine.

This post sums up how seriously I take this company. "Guard the snacks!" that says it all!

Keep drinking that half-priced Kool-Aid. The guard is there to make sure employees scan and pay for snacks. Yes, employees are disgruntled, but that’s a separate thread.

Same in the Cincinnati PulsePoint. Saw the same security guard sitting in the “Hangout” room seated right next to the little register thing the 100 times I walked by throughout the day.

This was separate from the security guard posted at the entrance to the building.

I don’t go near the snack area anymore, I started bringing in my own food/drinks a few weeks ago.

Paying security to guard snacks!!! That is a waste of resources if I have ever heard one! Take the snacks away or figure out another option like vending machines. Rifing associates and paying someone to guard snacks!!! How does this make sense.

This information is true. I have seen it in one of the Chicago offices. One security personnel guarding the snacks. Though the prices are not high, I felt this is part of cost cutting measure. Not sure how long will this security personnel will be deployed to guard. Better to remove the snack counters and replace with vending machines, much better cost cutting option probably?

The security guard is not there because of the snacks. The security guard is there in case there is a disgruntled worker situation. Your Pulse Point must have had or will be having layoffs.

That is what happens when you give 1 to 3 percent raises during 8+ percent inflation. Employees have to make up the loss somehow. Don't be surprised if toilet paper is missing too.

This is what People have become. People steal food, stuff their backpacks, try to take food home. I can imagine needing security.

Is it possible security just happened to be standing near the snacks? That seems an inefficient waste of money to pay someone to guard snacks. But who knows...stranger things have happened.
