Can anyone explain why final line mechanics are a pay grade higher than structural mechanics? I have asked upper management and never really recieved a clear answer. Their answer is always "that's a good question, we're going to look into that".

As a former rivet banger turned final line mechanic; there is a huge difference from installing landing gear, hanging engines, verifying gaps for engines "bat wings", joining wings, and testing avi wiring, than just ba----g rivets. The pay is worth its just
I believe that the management only cares about them selves. And it shows every day as long as they don't get fussed attention don't come around and show any interest. I haven't seen our department head in several months in years work space. He wonders why he doesn't get asked to join us for lunch.
I wish I could explain it, but I can't. Unfortunately you'll never get a real answer to that question. Here's another one: When is Gulfstream going to actually increase the pay for it's employees? (And I'm not talking about management/upper management... We all know they get their fat bonuses every year). I'm talking about the shop floor employees that they are starting out at $19 an hour. That's almost laughable in this economy. I'm talking about the employees that have been there for 20-30 years and not even making $40 an hour. Should've included a pay increase in your new policies if you really care about your employees and want to make them a little happier.
Call your People Partner lol That will get you nowhere.
Ask your People Partner, they should be able to explain. If not, call Compensation directly.
