Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Who determines who gets laid off?

The people who were affected from my team in the last two layoffs made no sense to me. We have a good manager, and I am positive that it couldn't have been her idea to get rid of some of our highest performers. Which makes me wonder, who is responsible for choosing to let go?

I had a weak manager who purposely ranked high performing employees low. This person wanted to get rid of strong employees to make himself look better.
I don’t think age matters. People like to think that because it makes things simple.

I also think you are safe if you have a disability. Cigna doesn’t want to open themselves up to lawsuits.
I always wondered if being a veteran kept you safer from layoffs.

If age is a factor, couldn’t Cigna be sued for age discrimination?

Definitely DEI, salary and age based. Over 90% of the people let go were over 60 in my area.
