Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Evernorth's Move to Hyderabad

The opening of the Hyderabad office, along with the fact that the role names are different compared to U.S. job titles, signals that Evernorth (and by proxy Cigna) are looking to lay of US employees (through job elimination) and move these jobs overseas to Hyderabad. We'e seen this before and it usually doesn't work out well, but will take them through 2025 with profits realized from the lay offs before they have to rethink the strategy. Discussing from the VP level at Evernorth seems to suggest this fact, however they are cagey about saying it outright.

HIH is old news but they are definitely ramping up even more over there in 2025.

Evernorth is trying so desperately to be Optum. This will help them staff it. Of course they started about 7 years too late and generally don’t do anything fast enough to be a leader of innovation (anymore). US medical is being re-org’d in such strange ways (MMEs reporting to non Clinical frat boy looking types) that the writing is on the wall - they’re putting the it up for sale. Prove me wrong.

IT Talent there are in high demand. To think that all these folks we are hiring will stay even a year is a fool's errand.

Look for more Accredo employees at all levels to get laid off as a result of this. They already outsource PBM stuff, so imagine the reaction when people find out delivery and handling of their life-saving medication is in the hands of a call center at the HIH where they pay people the equivalent of $8/hour

This also explains why most leadership left through most of this year, as well as the lay offs that occurred across the whole of the company. At the time it didn't make sense and was said to be market corrections, however with this news, as well as budgetary cuts just announced for 2025, it makes sense that they are looking to move offshore in order to increase profitability.
