I got my Cobra paperwork after I did my last weekly verification, but before I got my last check. Cobra they wanted $800 a month for the HSA plan for 1, and $1600 for my spouse and I! LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO
I signed up for a plan with the ACA (healthcare.gov) before my insurance termination date.
I'm getting a subsidy because i'm not working yet, i'm paying less than $250 a month for a plan, and I found a vision/dental with Cigna for $30 a month..... And i'm still paying less per month than I did for the coverage I got through Hellavance.

I had an EPO/HMO when employed. For COBRA they are only offering an EPO/PPO for over $800 a month. I've opened a case with the benefit company to see why I'm not offered a HMO.
Why would you take COBRA? Jump on the your state insurance. Tell them you new expected income and you will get a subsidized plan.
Was RIFed in May. Insurance was running out end of aug. they are required a min of 14 days before end of coverage to send out COBRA. These id--ts sent it out where i had a week to find insurance!
It will probably be too expensive

You have a 90-day window to get accept/decline cobra.
That is to say that you can retroactively get cobra if something catastrophic happens.
If you break a leg 80 days after being laid off, you can get cobra after and tour leg will be covered.
NEVER buy cobra on day 1 of a layoff.
