Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

RTO, snackgate, and now tshirts!

It's interesting that as every other week RTO rolls out they also decide to reduce snacks and start letting groups know tshirts and sweatshirts are no longer allowed in office or zoom.
And, yes, while the latter two are very first world problems, it does feel like the company is slowly trying to get people annoyed enough to look elsewhere and save them on some severance packages.

To the boomer and snowflake that are fighting on this thread… are we really pretending that going above and beyond is recognized? Let alone you make more money because of it 😂 that’s the biggest scam managers try to pull on people. The bonuses are usually paid just around 100% without much swing.

Yeah, We have a bunch of guys sitting in our wing dressed like that.

I could do this all day booms. If this site is still up in 15 years when you're alone on that hospital bed I might still visit our posts from time to time. I'll drink a prunie in your honor and all you have done for our country and Fid

First the boomer talked pay, then talked RTO haha. I don't remember the last time I took a selfie booms. When did I complain about the company? I only complained about how useless your generation actually is and you're doing the classic boomer deflect again

How does it feel to have 5% raises every year and get beat out by new hire salaries? Like previous poster said, pick a struggle. Being a boomer and a snowflake is just gluttony personified

Talk is cheap Snowflake, there is a reason you are complaining about this great Company. Stop taking selfies and make something of your life.

Reading comprehension definitely needs work. Let me break it down for you boomer- I'm implying I've surpassed where you have ever been.

I've been RTO before they mandated it. Who threw up in your prunies today lol

Nice strawman argument about feelings haha. Internet people don't really ruffle my feathers. On another note though, can you not read? I don't need to grind to hit target bonus, I grind just a little to take your boomer bonus and hit above target

It's easy to tell someone to pull up their bootstrap when yours are as clean as a whistle. Wild to think I've probably make more than you my time here and will probably retire sooner than you around people that want me around. We'll all sit around the fire and talk about how weak men ruined the world and strong men had to fix it

I own my own house and 2 cars outright and been out of college for about 2 decades now so where are we coming up with the basement and the campus comments?

Hahaha, I hit a snowflake nerve. Put your nose to the grind and stop whining. This is not a campus, it’s a great company allowing you to earn a check and make a living. If you don’t like it go away to live in mommy’s basement and she will feed you meatloaf and shelter you.

Nobody works for fun. Nice jab at yourself saying nobody related to you wants you around lol

Another Boomer here, you snowflakes need to get a life and get out of your parents basement. We boomers made this great company what it is, now we will keep on collecting the fruits of our labor and fatten our 401k. We don’t really need the money, we are working for the fun and laughing as you snowflakes struggle through life.

The difference is my generation isn't responsible for the downfall of American society through greed and head in a hole mentality. You and I both know that is not an exaggeration.

Boomers were hippies- imagine putting a hippie in today's society and tell me your younger self wouldn't be fighting to instill a better society rather than keep it all the same. Again, on your way to blackrock to sell your mcmansion you bought for a peanut for $2m.

Just retire and let us run it better. If I was working at 60-70 but didn't save in the most prosperous time period of history I'd be ridiculed. Yet boomers deflect criticism from every direction. Learn to look inwards and do better for people who will be here long after you're gone while you still have the chance.

Quite sad to see the comments about boomers. The RTO all comes down to tax breaks Abby gets by having the office full. If you are whining about not being able to work from home full time welcome to life. You don’t like it go get a job that gives you that option. I am middle age and work with people older and younger. I learn from all of them and the learn from me. We are all experts in our areas and work quite well together. Just wait one of these days you will be older and younger folks will devalue you.

TBH boomers should just kick rocks so we can lay off useless techies like Boston Devops and not have to RTO to prop up useless real estate. Real estate is such a boomer investment and no young person wants a mcmansion anymore. Only a couple more years until that garbo generation just fades away

Before Covid we had a foosball table and corn hole on the cafeteria. Interns were playing football in the hallway and no one said a thing to them because they wanted them to be leap candidates and Fidelity was pretending it was Facebook / Meta and a cool place to work.

Yup, snacks lessened for sure. The refills went from many times a day to one or two. Now as of recently there are none.
I know nothing about the tees and sweatshirts but I’m sure it’ll hit my department soon. There is no official dress cide last I knew but I think it’s business unit defined.
We have people that constantly wear little cropped tanks with spaghetti straps all the time. I just would like to not see that anymore, or thigh tattoos.

First they came for WFH and no-one said anything.
Then they came for the snacks and no-one said anything.
Then they came for the sweaters and graphic teeshirts and no-one said anything.
Then they came for my position and I had no WFH supporters, snack eaters, or sweater/teeshirt enthusiasts to stand up for me.
