Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

New policies

30 minutes for lunch and you have to clock in and out for it.

No more rolling over your personal or vacation time to the following year.

If you take off a day during the week (using your time) you will still have to work a full 40 hours before you get any overtime.

He-l, the kid that runs social media for the company lives in Atlanta and works fully remote - and she probably works 4 hours a day and zero idea of what is going on. Just walk over to the marketing dept - half those people do literally nothing —- but ask them and they are sooooo busy 😂😂.

None of them have a clue about actual aircraft, how they work or this industry. Fluff! But get time off and all the privileges.

This is all bs —- treating the people like us that build and work on the aircraft poorly will catch up with you - see recent aviation surveys as proof. Destroying this company.

We were told there is no break policy in the plan. So I am glad I quit smoking 20 plus years ago or I would get fired for not being friendly from not having a cigarette. Salary people can still work from home on a as needed basis Child sick and so on it is up to their managers. They also have no limit on their PTO. The statement that really fried my butt. One of the senior VP's (VB) comment was because of the knowledge and experience in their field they deserve special privileges.

If you drive by RDC 4 i don't remember the name of the road you will see all the engineers from there walking on the road at different times of the day. I have been told by a friend of mine that works in RDCIII that they have an engineer who has used the threat of quitting 2 different times the first one was if you don't bring wife back to our group I will quit. A few weeks later she was back in his department. Now he is using the same threat if he doesn't get promoted the job number is 222287 and of course thr Director is falling for it. So if you can't threaten your boss you could be let go.

The manager is what forms the dept. If you have an over-ambitious mgr., they can wreck havoc on everyone's perspective of ARC. Make and save your money and then leave. Don't look back.

So, would you hourly folks rather have the flexibility of not having to clock in and out or get paid for all hours (can’t have gimmie 5 for the hourly) worked past 40?

Yeah, it's funny that it doesn't apply at all to salary employees. I see a lot of them doing whatever the F they want. An hour to 1.5 hours everyday for lunch and the ones ki-ling themselves on the floor get 40 min... it's a joke

Gulfstream has a history of applying different rules for different employees. There is no consistency in their enforcement of said rules. This applies to remote work for family emergencies, working on Sunday to make up time missed during the week or to get your OT etc. I worked in design and there was a guy next to me that worked OT every Sunday so he could apply these hours remotely when there was nobody online to interrupt what he might be really doing. I decided to test this policy when I was sick one day during the week and logged in remotely to work Sunday, wouldn't you know it, our next group meeting Sunday work removed. We had a group of 4 guys who literally spent 4 hrs everyday in the smoke shack, it was a complete social event, like high school girls all going to the bathroom together and nothing done about it Until they enforce the rules they make as a whole to the entire workforce these new policies mean absolutely nothing. Managers will still allow a special few to skirt these rules while punishing and logging violations how they see fit.

The “survey” is a joke, ask yourself what has changed or what actions have been taken based on the concerns employees have raised by good ole Glint? And don’t think for a minute that it’s really anonymous.

I heard from a couple of Managers who attended the Manager meeting on Tuesday who both described it as a “train wreck” that started going south as soon she started to explain the policy changes which showed she clearly wasn’t prepared or is simply in over her head. Interesting comment from MB about another aircraft manufacturer losing its way because it lost its culture, seems like Gulfstream has been losing its culture for the past 10 years which is when she arrived… coincidence?

Remember the survey, Are You Happy at Gulfstream? With another major company in our area soon to open - why the recent changes? It makes no sense. Maybe MB and AA are telling employees .. Go!

I left a few years ago, willfully resigned in favor of a better opportunity, something a lot of people pass up in favor of bi--hing on The Layoff. I check this website every so often to remind myself why I left. Clearly, Gulfstream continues to have you all by the throat, but everyone stays. Why? Go work for the bazillion logistics companies that have turned every local plot of farm land into a warehouse. Look into other companies that don’t pull some PTO bullsh-t. Gulfstream’s existence is to bring in the margin from the commercial industry that the rest of GD’s businesses can’t bring in due to lower margin defense business. Because of this, GD pushes Gulfstream to make changes that typically only provide a way for the GD to squeeze out a little more margin (example being cutting off PTO rollover to reduce the amount of cash they need on hand to cover the Vacation Payable liability, cash flow almost always being a problem considering the company’s main revenue stream relies on milestone payments for aircraft deliveries, in a time where there are delays). Gulfstream could find a smarter way to generate margin, but since the leadership team is run by losers who lick GD’s boots, they’re too weak to push back. Go find a better place to work. There are companies that pay better and treat you much better.

You can bet these takeaway policy changes were pushed thru by the employee unfriendly and culture ki-ling AA.

Maybe it’s time to shake up higher management. They have unrealistic deadline's, missing aircraft deliveries. Fire Mr. Burns.

Truly feels like they are trying to push people out the door. It is sad that we can’t rollover the time but I guess that just means that I will use every hour each year (assuming I’m not walked out the door before that point).
