It’s right above Needs Inprovement in the pecking order, so the 15-30%th percentile. Don’t expect a pay raise.

It's really bad. I mean really really bad. Next year you'll be NIed and in two years you'll be NSIed. You're not a HiPo so your career is over. Well, really you never had a career. If you aren't a HiPo you don't have a career at Exxon. You must look for another job right this minute. You're done. You've been warned.

I was good but now I am bad. I will become what they want a bad worker. Monsters are not born they are created by years of torture and bad treatment. Exxon has hounded me for years about communication. I hate the people and meetings. I just want to scream and let them have it. That is why workers want to work from home. We can't stand their faces in person. I leave my camera off and my supervisor jumped my a ss because of this. I told them my camera was not working. They said I needed to get it fixed. I haven't yet and don't plan on it. My camera is really not broken. The only way I make it is by traveling as much as I can and WFH as much as possible. So exxon if you want me to come to the office make it a good place to work at in person. Stop all of the showing off and favoritism. Appreciate the talent you have. WFH as much as you can. Fake it to make it. BTW has anyone had any luck with mouse jigglers or French ticklers for that matter. I need one of each. I would like to hire an Indian from BTC to sub for me. I could pay like 20 per hour and they could work remotely from India. Hey if exxon can do it we can too. If I gave anyone bad ideas I am not sorry.

“Good” for someone under 30 is not a desired leading indicator.

“Good” for someone over 55 means you survived one more year and is a relief.

Nominally, "Good" encompasses 40th percentile down to 20th percentile. Most of " Good" is in the bottom 1/3. Anyone who knows Exxon, knows that ain't good.

If you are a white male the a good ranking is equivalent to VG or Excellent for all other minorities and females

Good means you do not have a sponsor.

You might actually be the SME for your area of expertise, but over 50 and there is little chance to get a higher ranking.

If there is an excellent job coming available this year for which you are completely qualified and well experienced, some VP is going to give that job to his favorite Planner with zero experience in that discipline, and you will loose out.

Ranking and new assignments are completely political and unrelated to your performance or ability. S&D no longer ask Discipline Leads for a list of capable candidates, just give positions to the next HiPo. If the HiPo incapable, they hire enough annuitants and contract staff to cover up the weakness. The Supervisor of the HiPo not allowed to mention that extra contract staff or the cover up in the 2 minute drills.

Even if you are the best at what you do, you need to work hard all year just to stay above NI or NSI next ranking.

Good is three steps away from outstanding and one step from needing improvement.

If you don’t know, now you know.

3/4 of the org is deemed better than you (assessment categories have specific ranges)

Definitely not great.

What’s your age? Something to think about. Each person is in a different spot but I look at it as a bit negative. Hopefully your boss will be changing soon.

Average. The bell curve is centered on the borderline between good and NI.

A holding place until they need to make you NI... Or the absolute best you can achieve if you're coming from NI.

In other words, a lame duck in both cases. Very good is only marginally less worse.
