RIF's should be based on performance, not salary or total rewards cost. Unions would do that.

Back in the day, there were employees with a union in Wisconsin, but through some selective RIFs and shutting a building down, I think they’re all gone now.
No way I’m adding union dues to what little I take home.
I believe a union is the only answer to this place.
Unionizing is not a solution to each labor situation. I was in a company that one of the "trades" decided to unionize. When the company didn't meet its goals, there were represented and unrepresented cuts. Although the unionized or represented cuts were not as brutal. What was brutul is all the newer people were immediatly cut. Seniority mattered. Didnt matter how good or not good you were.
Thats not going to work, that would expedite it.
