Thread regarding Canadian Natural Resources Limited layoffs

So what’s it really like working for CNRL in 2024?

I see this forum is quite dead, so maybe there is some merit to their claim they don’t let people go very often. But I hear that’s because they make you so miserable you will just resign.

Do they ever off accommodations for family status? Eg if your child has a medical appointment or is sick, do they really make you take the time as a vacation day? What happens when you run out of days to take? Would they let you go with cause?

Do they offer laptops so you can work from home in morning or evening to make up your hours to accommodate for family care obligations?

What is it like for women there working in traditional male dominated functions?

Stock price has been trading sideways/down for 6-8 months now, bit concerning.

Long time lurker but I don’t know where else to post. CNRL bonuses were good this year I thought. People I chatted with seemed happy. Lots of drilling going on. Management continues to be strong to quite strong. Not a bad place to hunker down if you can handle the work load.

Not impressed with the Chevron acquisition and people that came over. Completely anecdotal but we were forced to make room for one and find work for them to do, which they balk at because it's way more then what they did before. Hear a lot about how they did things at Chevron.

Collaboration and teamwork can be done through MS Teams, even more effectively. Seems like all folks at CNRL are like robots. Even during Covid CNRL was mandating everyone to be vaxxed else they were not hiring them. Money is not always what you need in your life. Health and good mentality is a key.

They need you in the office. It’s about collaboration and teamwork. What did people do before the pandemic ? People in the service industry work in office or onsite. Think about all the field workers?

If you don’t like working onsite someone else can have your job. Use your vacation or personal days for your appointments.

Can you really not work from home? I have an interview next week and that’s a real bummer.

Chevron did a very good job promoting diversity and accelerating women into the higher levels (I say "very good", not great, as it can always be improved). Diversity has been proven to improve the bottom line of companies and encourage different perspectives. Unfortunately some companies within the O&G sector have not yet recognized this. If CNRL is smart they will continue to promote more women and help to balance the male dominated culture that many companies still hold onto. This is expected by shareholders who in 2024 know that diversity will ultiimately increase the share price.

CNRL is a cash generator company. The stock price has done very well within few years, it's the best choice among investors for Canadian oil companies. Indeed people work hard there by going to work merely every day. Yet, CNRL managed to avoid mass layoffs during depressed oil prices comparied to other companies. Even though compensation could be slightly lower, the increase in stock price and other benefits turned out to be more beneficial for folks who work there.

Don’t bring that woke chevron bs over here. We work hard, the share price goes up and we get paid. If you don’t like it, then quit.
