I'll be resigning next week - any idea what to expect? There's no official notice period, do they tend to just escort people out?

When I gave my two weeks noticed, I was asked to turn everything in and that was my last day has an employee.
Since I was going to a competitor, HR usually will make the call to have your employment end that day. It is a security issue and trust me no one is irreplaceable.
hey popcorn troll, it's the person who used "dear" in the post, (or so you think) not the other one, please try to keep up, resident troll. after all, only one person in the whole world ever uses that word, genius
Umm, vacation no longer works that way, Popcorn.
A long, long time ago I knew a reservoir engineer that put in his 2 week notice toward the end of December, so he could finish working early January and earn his next year's vacation. His supervisor told him he did not need to give the customary two week notice and just leave. Therefore he did not received his earned vacation because he resigned before the end of the year. Oh well.
@1yhj, would you "dearly love to quit and go somewhere better" dear? Why don't you, if you don't mind telling us? Is there no place better or will they just no hire you? Are you chained to your desk? Last time I checked we are all free to quit whenever we choose. That's a very strange comment to make.
It all depends. Most people that have quit give their 2 week notice to not burn bridges and do a handover. If you are combative or have been a problem employee, your boss may be like BYE. Either way, you give your IT equipment to a co-worker or a supervisor and walk out the building - handing in your SB. If you leave without your SB it'll be worthless anyways as it'll be deactivated. Nobody will remember you.
Have you burned up all your vacation and sick leaves?
When I resigned they were happy to have me continue to work my two weeks notice period, showing some of the other folks on my team how my current work files were organized (and in fact it turned into 3 weeks by mutual agreement). When I finally left I was asked by leave my laptop (etc.) in my office and turn my barge in at the security desk on my way out. Might be different if you are in a more sensitive position, but I found it to be handled as quite routine when I departed by Petro-tech job.
Why you quitting? We would all dearly love to quit and go somewhere better.
It’s a drop down menu option in workday. Your supervisor will do the off boarding checklist with you. Get your paperwork to roll over your pension ( if exercising) to an ira
Canadian or not?
Buh Bye. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. oh, and thanks
If you are not involved in any investigation, it should be pretty straight forward and without any fan fare. You give back your laptop and cell phone (and other company equipment) to your supervisor, take all your cr-p from the office and usually your supervisor walks you down to the security and takes your badge. No one talks about you or hears from you again :)
It depends on how critical your job is, and how much you know. Both companies I resigned from prior to Chevron willingly took my two week notice and had me handover my responsibilities to my successor. Expect they'll be tracking every keystroke and email you send.
Location?
There is no “resigning” and yes, they walk you out. Best of luck!
yeah! BYE!
