Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Why are you still working here!

Clearly this company has no long-term upside. If you don't get RIFed or fired, you will get 1 and 2 percent increases annually. Every year you stay, you loose more money to inflation. Complacency will be your end!

I stayed for the RIF money. Why not let them pay for an extended vacation.

@thn...Not sure why your posting got thumbs down....but that is just how some people are. I am glad you are happy and on a good team. We are not all in that same boat, but honestly, I am happy for those who are. Stay well and happy.

Although stressful at times...I like my job and my peers and our manager is very nice and treats us with respect. The salary is fine and benefits are fine. This supports my family and helped to support extended family in the past when they needed help. I don't plan to leave by choice.

I was over the job well before my RIF, but because I stuck around, I got the 6 months SUB when I was RIFfed. It didn’t take me very long to find a new position at another company.

Because I wasn’t anywhere near an office, my ability to move within the company became almost impossible this year. I’m sure I would have left at some point as a result, but I don’t regret my decision to stay until the very end.

And you know what else? I barely worked the 30 day notice period after RIF because I knew no one could hire me at Elevance even if they wanted to (due to my location). Overall, it was a good summer courtesy of Elevance!

Fortunately I had really good leaders during most of my career but lately it seems I am scraping the bottom of the barrel. Happy for those that are having a better experience.

The bright side is if I get RIF’d, I get 6 months of pay. No one wants to start over if they don’t have to. Great PTO, flexible work schedule, only 1 day in office (how many hours is up to my discretion). This is not the best company, but it sure isn’t the worst company to work for.

Because being in AI team is so much fun.... Not much checks and people can work multiple jobs remotely... I go to the office once every week so that I don't get flagged. And most of the people leaders in AI are doing the same :-). We all fake that we are extremely busy and the business has no idea that we are wasting their funds. Lol

I've received two promotions and one lateral increase since I started five years ago. I enjoy all the teams I've worked in and my leaders are wonderful. Of course there are some days where it can be too much, however, I'll take the pros with the cons. I've been employed in nonprofit sectors and many banks. This is a great career.

The job market is horrible right now. Across all fields. Ghost jobs, recruiters/hiring managers ghosting you after interviewing you, auto rejections, low balling on wages, barely -any more remote positions out there and salary!!!

Not sure how many other companies you've worked for, OP, but things here are pretty good in spite of everything. Work/life balance, remote work opportunities, good teammates and management for the most part. Layoffs exist everywhere nowadays, at companies both large and small, publicly traded and privately held.

If you feel you can do better for yourself, then go for it, and best of luck with it. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I like my job and the salary and benefits are in line with other companies for my similar position. I hope to retire from here too! I don't plan on leaving unless I am forced out or retire. I know what I have and am fine with it. It takes care of my family.

Has anyone noticed that new job postings have 0% AIP. Not sure why. Are they not offering for new hires? Are they doing away with it all together? Curious.

1uWikXnc —-Why are you still here? I work from home, can use my license and have learned this job and I do it very well, benefits and salary are comparable.

As should be true with most everyone, think and act like a person that is responsible for themselves. Take advantage of every opportunity you can and then move on when there's nothing left. Criticize and resist if you like but this is the "survive and thrive" mentality I've experienced wherever I've been. Grow up and realize the reality of life nowadays. You're responsible for yourself and your family so do what you can - always legal of course - and stop dreaming about a different world that doesn't exist unless you are the one that's going to create it. Learn the environment, the economics of your situation and adapt. You have today and maybe tomorrow so plan and work accordingly. You just might find that your life gets better and easier if you can do that. Complaining and living a fearful life is NOT what we're here to do.
Just sharing what I have learned the hard way.
Good luck to you all.

I think if a lot of people felt they could get better jobs, they would. At this point, I think the AIP is what keeps a lot of people coming back. If they ever decide to drastically reduce or take that away, I think you would see a mass exodus of people over a short period of time.

Because I work from home and if they do RIF me I get the full supplemental pay of 6 months to look for a new job. Those are literally the only reasons.
