Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

What is your opinion about forming a union?

Maybe we should form a Union? I will be honest I don’t know the in’s and out’s of a union. But maybe that would give the worker’s a better voice and better work conditions. Hold the company more accountable to there work force. Just a thought.

If you think unionizing is the answer, please consider that there were 5 people in a department in MKE - one was made non-union & and the other 4 union employees had their positions eliminated. I was one of the 4.

Respectfully, let’s not engage in posturing and empty threats. We have a constructive forum here and comments like this detract from the real issues.

Looks like all of the managers that monitor this site came out hard with the anonymous union busting comments. Unionizing could be worth it if the bank keeps treating employees this way. Also agree with the comments to keep talking publicly about what we’re experiencing, help the public understand how this bank treats their employees today vs 5 years ago.

Start printing off unionization fliers (not on company equipment) and distribute them all over on every single floor and bulletin board at every single location. The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) protects you from being retaliated against.

That might end their RTO efforts.

No thanks! No way would I ever join a union. I agree that unions have done a lot of good for their members in the past, but what good are they for now?

You cannot be termed for wanting to form a Union, talking to an Organizer, etc…
However a lot of organizing activities must be done off the clock.
An Organizer will have more details.

I don't believe McKinsey & Company is a fan of unions.
Come to think of it, they don't seem to be a fan of humans.

I'd probably quit if we unionized. Just another leech and bureaucracy on top of the problems of existing system and culture. It nearly always just makes things worse.

I'm decently positive that it's in the conditions of employment that if one tries to do what you're suggesting that it will result in immediate termination. For whatever reason I remember this from my new hire orientation eons ago. If I'm wrong that's totally fine
