Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Pto carry over appears to be changing.

I did an estimate of my pto to view how much I need to use to avoid it being dumped into sick time. Now it does not show any time being put into sick time but rather “carry over forfeited in period” so once again the badt&$@ds on top scre$ the average worker.

My state doesn't require PTO payout. I use it all except a small amount of carryover. If I get unlimited PTO I'm working 4-day weeks. I already put in enough extra time over the years to make up for years worth of 1 day of a week. What will they do? Say no? Probably but I'm going to try anyway.

If you live in a state that requires PTO to be carried over or paid out when you leave. Then they can't change it. I know Colorado and California are 2 of those state. I

State of CA PTO law doesn’t apply for PTO pay out when it is considered unlimited. Why? Because it is no longer “accrued” and no longer considered earned time ($). Womp womp. Another way to cut cost.

For those of us who do not get unlimited P.TO next year, they are adding one additional day of P.T.O. so if you got 19 days this year, next year you will get 20. If you got 25 this year, next year 26. Plus those 2 wellness days. Just an FYI

I looked at mine on workday

  1. If I use a date of 1/12/2025

PTO shows as if nothing has fallen off
Sick time is not increased from what I had on 12/31/2024
16 hours of Wellness (I have taken 1 day of this in 2024, so if I look at 12/31/2024 I see 8 hours)

  1. If I use a date 1/13/2025

PTO is truncated to show 40 hours carried over PLUS what I accrued so far in Jan 2025
Sick time same as in #1, above
16 hours of Wellness

My boss is checking into this

So we could get 16 hours of wellness or someone is really good at their job such that this is incorrect (guess we will find out when open enrollment for employees start and they tell us about benefits in 2025)

Was wondering when they would start the unlimited PTO trend. Several studies have shown that people tend to use less PTO when it’s unlimited.

PTO payout not made unless required by law. Per policy, payout required by California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico.

You have to go out to Jan 12 2025 to see “carryover” and what will be forfeited if not taken. It lands differently in the coming year

They are rolling out My Choice PTO (unlimited PTO) to people leaders now so maybe that is what you are seeing. That starts soon....it's being announced during open enrollment. With that you cannot roll over unused PTO
