Home Depot software developers will soon be required to spend one full day each quarter working in a retail Home Depot store. This involves wearing the apron, interacting with real customers, and experiencing the complete in-store environment. I’m curious, how would you feel about this? Would it be a deal-breaker for you, or wouldn’t it matter?

I love it! They are great people, and now understand what we go through! As a retail Mgr for 40 years, I always loved the corporate people, at Dress Barn I became friends with Alison the shoe buyer!
As a 10 year person in a store, I believe anyone hired oulther than store personel needs to spend time in a store, and more than 1 day. Perhaps a week would be better to get a better idea of store ops.
It’s a good thing. I make applications for the store associates and I’ll get inspiration for new ideas by experiencing it first hand.
