Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

I think my colleagues are jumping ship

I have noticed that they are suddenly using all their PTO and taking days off spontaneously. They also seem very disinterested in our work. I have worked with my team for two years. This is very unusual of them.

Anyone else noticing similar behavior in their team?

One thing I’ve heard is that a lot of people have serious family issues right now and are just telling people they were “sick” because it’s better than talking about what’s really going on, with a group of backstabbing strangers.

We used to have colleagues that saved their vacay time all year then went to India for 4-5 weeks after giving 10 days notice they were taking vacation it was tolerated and it caused a lot of problems - I blame the IT manager as I think he was afraid to deny the time. It was the same people every year too - to the point that we used to proactively ask - hey are you doing that again?!

Exactly. They call in sick or use fmla because they are customer facing and Fidelity doesn’t care about you when you’re customer facing. Take the abuse or else. That makes people sick and have mental issues.

More than half my dept calls in sick or FMLA ever .. single..... Day. We are unable to help customers because of it.

When my team randomly takes days off it’s because the work environment was too toxic that week. But yes, everyone is disengaged and pi---d about being in the office.

My team fights like high school (not criticizing an age group, just stating how the fights are), now that we’re back every other week.

A few have openly said that are actively interviewing.

It’s the time of year where people need to use it up or they will lose it. I wouldn’t read into it too much.
